1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 e5	An experiment I've tried a few times. After this game, not planning to repeat. The d5 square is just too weak.



5. Bb5+ Nd7 6. Nf5 a6 7. Ba4	Exclam. Keeping the bishop in order to exploit black's weak white squares. The most common move, 7. Bxd7, trades if off for no good reason.



7... b5 8. Bb3 Nb6	White's advantage is also clear after 8… Nc5 9. Bd5



9. O-O g6 10. Ne3 Nf6 11. Nc3 Bb7 12. Qf3 h5	Both 12… Be7 and 12… Bg7 can be answered by 13. Ng4, after which Black has big problems.
	2 comments martenp (1700) on 21-Feb-14: After 12... Bg7, 13. Ng5 h5, what is the big problem? Of course if 14. Nxf6 Qxf6 15.Qxf6 Bxf6 white's position is inferior, but it seems like you can still put up a fight. Your weakness on d5 and the bad dark bishop are problems that already exist. I get that I play h5 either way, but in the line I proposed you only do this if white has already invested a tempo in the attack, whereas the line played here weakens your kingside without white having to do anything for it. What am I missing here? I am also interested in your reasoning behind playing g6, which seems to be the source of the weaknesses on the king's side freedom_fries (1963) on 05-Jun-14: Thanks for your comments. Agree 9... g6 is weakening, but how else to develop the kingside? What would you have played? 12... h5 is also weakening but after 12... Bg7 13. Ng4 h5 14. Nxf6+ Qxf6 15. Qe3 I really hate black's position. In any case, I don't think we're about to rehabilitate 4... e5 any time soon.


13. a4 b4 14. a5	Exclam. I had only considered 14. Ncd5 Nbd5 15. Nd5 Nd5 16. ed5 a5, where black has hope of consolidating.



14... bxc3	If 14… Nbd7 15. Ncd5 and black will lose the b-pawn for starters.



15. axb6 Be7	After 15… Be4 16. Ba4 or 15… cxb2 16. Ba4, Black's king is trapped in the center.



16. Nc4 O-O 17. bxc3	Possibly not urgent. 17. Rd1 might have killed me faster.



17... Bxe4	17… Nxe4 18. Na5 Qb6 19. Qd3 (threatening 20. Nxb7 and 21. Bd5) Nf6 20. Qg6+. Ouch.



18. Qe3 Bd5 19. Rd1 a5	19… Qc8 20. Nd6 was not very appetizing.



20. Nxa5 Bxb3 21. cxb3 Ng4 22. Qe1 Qxb6	Here I thought I had almost achieved a playable position. I was proven mistaken.



23. b4 Rfc8 24. h3 Nf6 25. Be3 Qb8 26. c4 Bd8 27. b5	Exclam. Nothing matters except the b-pawn.



27... Bxa5 28. Rxa5 Rxa5 29. Qxa5 Rxc4 30. Qa6 Ne4 31. b6	It's over. The rest is momentum.
