1. e4	Hi everyone! Just to let you know that I got my revenge on anthropologist, the guy who beat me in the annotated game "Chimeria". Hope you enjoy this brevity.



1... c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5	3. Bb5 - this is I think the Nimsovich-Rossolimo attack in response to the Sicilian - recommended as a strong line in the database.
	2 comments nuntar (1702) on 30-Sep-08: Rossolimo Variation.... I never heard of it being named after or connected with Nimzovitsch. Ol' Nimzo has way too many openings named after him anyway! And yes, this is a good line; also one of my favourites. kaspanatola (2163) on 27-Oct-11: I also never heard it called other than Rossolimo variation, by the way Svidler is an expert with 27 games (10W/15D/2L)


3... e6 4. O-O Nge7 5. c3 a6 6. Ba4 b5	6. .......... b5 - this kinda resembles a Ruy Lopez. Frere Leblanc does have the foxhole c2 to escape the queenside pawn roll avoiding the Noah's Ark Trap.
	3 comments archduke_piccolo (2332) on 30-Sep-08: Both moves have their merits, I guess. But the exchange doesn't even double Black's pawns if Black chooses to recapture with the knight. At that, the doubled pawns after ...bxc6 wouldn't be much hardship to Black. I prefer the retreat, myself, as the bishop might come in handy on its new diagonal, b1-h7. nuntar (1702) on 30-Sep-08: I would have played 4. Bxc6. (To ionadownman: yes, it does double Black's pawns, since he hasn't played Nge7 yet.) dmaestro (1647) on 30-Sep-08: 4. Bxc6 may double pawns but after white plays d4 the doubled pawns are no longer an issue, and otherwise the open b file is adequate compensation.


7. Bc2 g6 8. d4 c4	8. ........ c4?? - I think this is the move that causes black to lose at least a piece.
	1 comment dmaestro (1647) on 30-Sep-08: 7...g6?! seems weak as well. Better would have been 7...d5 with a decent game. 8...c4?? is a serious blunder.


9. d5 exd5 10. exd5 Nb8	10. ........... Nb8 - black's development goes into reverse!



11. d6	11. d6!! - here it is, one little tiny pawn move, but this stab is going to net a piece because although the knight can sidestep the pawns attack, Re1 is going to cook black's goose big time because the rook cannot be captured, the king cannot move and so black must put a piece in the way to be taken by the d6 pawn.

11... Nf5 12. Re1+ Ne7 13. dxe7 Bxe7 14. Bg5 f6	14. .......... f6?? - compounds the error still more - 14. ......... Nc6 was better, now the black dsb is hopelessly pinned and I simply take the pawn on f6 maintaining this pin and attacking the rook on h8. After this double attack which will sentence my opponent to a two piece deficit, anthropologist waved the white flag.

Don't forget that Black has no way to save the queen! archduke_piccolo (2332) on 30-Sep-08: There's plenty going on in this sequence - pity you didn't break it out a bit more Joanne! [a]After 11...Nf5 12.Bxf5!? was almost as good as the move played. The idea is (bearing in mind Black doesn't have to be quite so supine) 12. Bxf5!? gxf5?! 13.Re1+ Be7 14.Rxe7+ Kf8 15.Bh6+ Kg8 16.Qd5 and mate must be imminent. [b] After 12.Re1+(!) Ne7 13.Qd5! is a real bone breaker. 13...Ra7 14.Ng5! Qb6 (...Qc7 also leads to a quick mate) 15.Rxe7+ Bxe7 16.Qxf7+ Kd8 17.Qxe7#. Not that 13.dxe7!? compromises the win in any way...

Nxe5 (15...Bxg5 16.Nxc6+ is no good for Black) 16.Rxe5 and Black, already a piece down will lose more than the bishop on e7! [b] 15.Be4! Bxg5 16.Bxc6+ Be7 17.Bxa8 with an overwhelming material advantage. [c] Less convincing, maybe, would have been 15.Nd4!? with the idea 16.Nxc6 dxc6 17.Rxe7+ or 17.Qxd8+ Kxd8 18.Rxe7. Black's only reasonable defences are 15...0-0 16.Nxc6 dxc6 17.Rxe7 or 15...Ra7 16.Bxe7 Nxe7 18.Nxb5! axb5 19.Qd4, attacking both rooks. Clearly there was no salvation to be had from 14...Nc6! Sweet vengeance!
