1. d4	Well I've never done this before, figured since it was one of my better games I'd give it a shot. I think this is the first game I've opened d4



1... c5 2. e4	I just tried to develop the center of the board here
	3 comments blake84120 (1200) on 02-Mar-09: Black played the Old Benoni Defense. The main line response would be 2. d5 followed by 3. e4. Also acceptable is the move you played, 2. e4, which transposes into the Sicilian Morra Gambit, or 2. Nf3 which can transpose into a main line of the Sicilian (2. cxd4, 3. Nxd4 Nc6, 4. e4), or a couple other transposition lines with 2. c3 or 2. Nc3. nuntar (1702) on 03-Mar-09: To get into the Modern Benoni Black would have to play 2... Nf6, which seems unlikely in this position. blake78613 (1200) on 04-Mar-09: Could just as easily be a modern Ben-oni. Would depend on further moves. After 1 d4 c5 2 d5 Black would not have to play 2...Nf6 to get in the Modern Ben-oni, 2..d6 would keep the possibility open.


2... cxd4 3. c3 dxc3 4. Nxc3 Nf6 5. Bc4 e6 6. Bg5	right here I was aiming to trap his Nf6 by advancing my pawn e5

6... h6 7. Bh4 Bb4	I succeeded here, by advancing the pawn and he countered with g5, I didn't want him castling
	1 comment nuntar (1702) on 03-Mar-09: Black should play 7... Be7 to break the pin. The exchange leaves him with doubled h-pawns, an exposed kingside and gives White a tempo to defend the advanced f6 pawn, which is going to cause Black problems.


8. e5 g5	so I exf6 and knew now that he wasn't going to castle, successfully atleast



9. exf6 Bxc3+ 10. bxc3 gxh4 11. Qf3 Qc7 12. Bb3 Rg8	here I was just looking to protect the c3 pawn from

Ne2 was a good move, readying to castle and freeing your queen from guard duty - she is defending two pawns right now, since g2 is en prise, though if you didn't defend c3, black could not readily just play 13. ... Rxg2, 14. Qxg2 Qxc3, 15 Ke2, Qxa1??? because of 16. Qg8#. nuntar (1702) on 03-Mar-09: I think Black should have played 12... d5 and Nd7 to take off the f6 pawn.


13. Ne2 Rg6 14. Bc2	just trying to attack until something comes up



14... Rg5 15. O-O Nc6 16. Nf4	Here I was looking for a sacrifice of either my knight or bishop just attacking the f7 pawn and taking it with the queen later on to check him



16... Qe5 17. Nh3 Rg8 18. Rfe1 Qc5 19. Bh7 Rh8	here I didn't really have much



20. Be4 Ne5	at this point I saw it was a good time to start attacking



21. Qh5 Nd3	once he attacked the rook I saw potential mate 4-6 moves ahead. I knew it looked to good for him not to pass it up so I moved Ng5 hoping that he would take my rook. If he didnt and took my g5 Knight I knew I'd be at -1 in the same spot as I was before
