1. e4	As far as I know, my greatest drawback in chess is my opening skills/repertoire. I don't have any :-) The sad thing for me is that this is the only part of chess I find not interesting at all to study... And here too I start off with one pawn down

8. Nxc3 Qd8 9. Be3 Nf6 10. Qd2 Be7 11. O-O O-O 12. Rad1 Nc6 13. a3 a6 14. Qc2 Qc7 15. Rd2 Bd7 16. Rfd1 Na7 17. Bd4	Here I felt good about my position. Fully developed, seemingly control of center and both B's and Q pointing towards the king



17... Bc6	Here I saw the plan of equalizing in material and in addition weakening the black king side. My worries was to protect Nf3 so I didn't end up weakening by king side as well, and I did found it ( I think)



18. Be5 Qc8 19. Bxf6 Bxf6 20. Bxh7+ Kh8 21. Be4 g6 22. Rd2d6 Be5	I guess black overlooked something tactical here because later he didn't show anything for the sacrificing of the bishop
	1 comment archduke_piccolo (2332) on 23-Dec-07: He seems simply to have overlooked the knight on f3, or maybe overestimated the tactical poosibilities based on the respective Q positions... Possibly he considered 22...Be7 to drive off the rook, but misliked leaving unoccupied the weak dark squares about his king. Another plan is 22...Rd8 hoping one way or another to exchange off a pair of rooks.


23. Nxe5 Bxe4 24. Qxe4 Nb5	Again I spent a lot of time calculating. My first idea was Nxg6 because I assumed he will take my knight and I will win... But then I did see a better move for black, Kg7 and I would most likely have sacrificed my knight for a pawn and lost my advantage in the game. Then I found a better one: 25. Nxf7 Then if ...Kg7, a suggestion like this follows (or a quicker mate): 26. Rxe6 Rxf7 27. Qxg6 Kf8 28. Qh6 Rg7 29. Rf6 Ke7 30. Qxg7 So I felt very comfortable about Nxf7 , actually this being a winning move for me. 25... Kg8 is a quick loss for black and taking back with the rook is also a loss by losing heavy material, as the rest of the game shows

Maybe White can improve with this king hunt: 29.Qh8ch (instead of Rf6ch) 29...Kf7 30.Re7ch! Kxe7 31.Qxg7ch Ke6 32.Re1ch Kd6 (...Kd5 transposes into the following line) 33.Qe7ch!? Kd5 34.Qe5ch Kc6 35.Rc1ch and once the queen goes, White's 3 K-side pawns are decisive. [B] But possibly the blunt 26.Qe5ch is even more decisive than 26.Rxe6 at that. 26.Qe5ch [1] 26...Kxf7 27.Rd7ch Qxd7 28.Rxd7ch Ke8 29.Qxe6#; or [2] 26...Kg8 27.Qh8ch Kxf7 28.Rd7ch Qxd7 (prolongs the game by 1 move)29.Rxd7ch Ke8 30.Qg7 and mate next move; or [3] 26...Kh7 27.Ng5ch with 28.Rd7 to follow.
