1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 h6 4. d3 Bc5 5. Be3
I'm not too keen on this move. It compromises your kingside pawn structure too much. If you want to exchange bishops, play Qe2 first.

5... Bxe3 6. fxe3 Nf6 7. h3
Another weakening move. There is now a big hole on g3 just waiting for Black's knight.

7... d6 8. O-O Nh5 9. Nh2
The knight is out of the game here and your threat is easily defended.

9... Nf6
0-0 was a better move.

10. Nc3 g5
Black needs to safeguard his king before playing moves like this.

11. Qf3 Be6 12. Bxe6 fxe6 13. Qxf6 Qxf6 14. Rxf6
Black should resign at this point!

14... Ke7 15. Raf1 Rag8 16. Ng4
Try to work out what your opponent's response will be before you make a move. Rf7 was the obvious move.

16... h5 17. Nh2 g4
Threatening ...g3, winning the knight.

18. Kh1
This doesn't help, Black can still play ...g3. The best solution was Rf7 followed by R1f6, vacating f1 for the knight.

18... gxh3
...g3 would have put Black right back in the game.

19. gxh3 Rg3 20. Rf6f3 Rhg8 21. Rxg3 Rxg3 22. Rf3 Rg5 23. a3 a6 24. b4
At this point White needs to make a plan. The first priority is activate the knight on h2.

24... b5 25. Ne2
The wrong knight moves!

25... d5 26. exd5 exd5 27. c3 Ke6 28. e4 dxe4 29. dxe4 h4
This helps White a lot!

30. Ng4 Ne7 31. Rf8 Rg7 32. Ra8 c6 33. Rxa6 Rf7 34. Kg2 Kd6 35. a4
Don't be in a hurr to push your extra pawn. Improve the position of your knight on e2 first (e2-c1-d3).

35... bxa4 36. Rxa4 Ng6 37. c4
This weakens your pawn on b4. The best plan was still to activate the knight on e2. But before you can do that you must challenge Black's control of the f-file by playing your rook to f3 (via a3).

37... Ne7 38. Ra5 Ng6 39. c5+ Ke6 40. Ng1
This was your opportunity to exchange rooks by playing 40.Ra6 Kd7 41.Ra7 . The more pieces go off, the bigger your advantage becomes.

40... Nf4+ 41. Kh2 Nh5
Black could have won the b-pawn by playing 41...Rb7 42.Ra4 Nd3.

42. Ra6 Rf4 43. Rxc6+ Ke7 44. Nxe5
I don't think you needed another pawn! You should have been able to see the consequences.

44... Rf2+ 45. Kh1 Ng3#
