This is my first annotated game, I am learning the french so this game had a interesting out come with a queen sack to get a mate in under 20 moves.

1. e4 e6 2. f4 d5 3. exd5 exd5 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. Be2 Be7	a very strong player told me that this is a bad move.
	1 comment longtail99 (1922) on 17-Feb-10: White has played a peculiar version of the exchange variation and has lost the initiative. Better would have been 3. e5 c5 4. Nc3 Nc6 etc (an advance french with f4, but without d4 its harmless to black). Or 3. Nc3 (mainline) de 4. Nxe4 c5 (..Nf6) 5. Nf3 with an interesting game for both players


6. O-O O-O 7. Kh1	I think this is a wasted move.
	1 comment longtail99 (1922) on 17-Feb-10: This is an easy mistake for white to make. He's playing against the French (thematic is a white kingside attack). He's played the KG moves e4, f4 (kingside attack). So perhaps he persists with the idea that he can attack black (Kh1 would be consistent with a later g4). But white lost most of his initiative after move 3, and must patiently develop. A system like d4, c3, Ne5 for white would be consistent with his pawn structure; but his light-square bishop is on the passive e2 instead of active squares like d3 or c4, and the f4 pawn blocks his dark square bishop. Its easy when playing an unfamiliar opening system to slip out of position like this


7... c5	taking the center



8. d4 Nc6 9. dxc5	this move is helping me out.



9... Bxc5	starting to attack the king position.



10. Nc3 Re8 11. Bd3 Bg4	trying to get him to open up his king position by getting him to move his porns.



12. h3 Bh5 13. f5	trapping the bishop, i'm hopping that he moves the g porn to g4 so I can start my attack.



13... Qc7 14. Bg5 Ne4	I did this move at 4.30 in the morning and was a bit concerned about it for the rest of the day.



15. Nxd5	bad move



15... Ng3+ 16. Kh2	He offered me a draw at this point?

16... Nxf1+ 17. Kh1	not often you get to sack a queen so here I go.



17... Qh2+ 18. Nxh2 Ng3#
