1. e4	My opponent was crushing me toward the middle of the game when he saw a chance to snatch a pawn. The down side was it cost him the game.



1... c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 6. Bg5	Thought I would try I different type of dragon than I'm used to.



6... Bg7 7. f4 Nc6 8. Bb5 Qb6 9. Qd2 Nxe4	The c3 knight is forced to guard the b5 bishop leaving the e4 pawn exposed.



10. Bxc6+ bxc6 11. Nxe4 Bxd4	Only way I could find to not lose quickly.



12. c3 Be3 13. Qe2 f6	here my opponent removes the defender of the f4 pawn.
	1 comment archduke_piccolo (2355) on 07-Jan-11: Possibly Black ought to have pulled back the bishop to g7. Its sortie to e3 is going to leave the dark squares on the K-side somewhat weakened, a feature that would become more pronounced later in the game.


14. Bh4 Bxf4	?? the queen and knight make a perfect team here.



15. Nxf6+	!! Kd8 Kd5 and black is in Kf8 the best move would loosen the death grip on blacks position giving chances.

15... Kf7	But my opponent decides on Kf7



16. Qc4+	In order to free up the knight, and give threat to f4.



16... d5	? digging a deeper hole



17. Qxf4	exf6 Qxf6+ white looks playable. Bxf6 looks fine too though Re8+ gives me some concern.



17... Bf5	Going after the knight for keeps.

Black probably had to take the knight and hope for the best, but after 17...exf6 18.Qxf6ch Kg8 the outlook is very bleak for Black. A possible continuation is 19.Bg5 aiming for Bh6; or 19.Bf2, switching to a handier diagonal, and also enabling castling short.


18. Nd7	Forcing the queen to move.



18... Qxb2	black keeps grabbing pawns.

19. O-O	Freeing up whites attack chances.



19... Ke8	? I don't like this move I though Qxc3 would solidify blacks game a bit.
	1 comment archduke_piccolo (2355) on 07-Jan-11: Grabbing another pawn would probably give White too much time (e.g. 20.g4 becomes very playable). The King move relieves the pin at f5 and attacks the knight at d7 - a very understandable choice.


20. Rae1	Continue threats on the king.

20... Kxd7	??? e6 would have given black some chance of continued play but this just ends it.
	1 comment archduke_piccolo (2355) on 07-Jan-11: Unfortunately, it appears that 20...e6 would not have much prolonged Black's game. The quiet 21.Qd6 in response would have brought the curtain down, there being no sensible defence against the threatened mate: 20...e6 21.Qd6! Kf7 (There is no good Queen move) 22.Qe7ch Kg8 23.Nf6#. One of those infiltrating attacks that used to bear the hallmark of Nimzovitch. The only other defence I can think of is 20...Qa3 - hopeless really as it gives up material when already a piece (for two pawns) down. But White can cut to the chase by: 20...Qa3 21.Bxe7! Qxe7 (there seems to be nothing for it but to carry on) 22.Qd6! Qxe1 23.Rxe1ch and mates in two more moves. But what can you expect? White has an overwhelming game.


21. Rxe7+	The game ends in K(rank 8) Qc7#.
