1. d4	QP openings are more geared towards long positional games than quickies. Every now and again, though...



1... Nf6	Preparing for an Indian defense.



2. c4	The usual move...



2... e5	Hanauer decides to gamble with the Budapest Gambit.
	2 comments vincerino (1200) on 26-Dec-10: it's not really a gamble if black plays Ng4 in response to dxe5. if black responds with Ne4 it's much more of a gambit, but that move has pretty much been refuted by a3 damalfi (1200) on 28-Dec-10: I use to play the Budapest. And after ...Ng4, Qd4 makes it a real gambit, since black cannot recover the pawn.


3. d5	Arnold tries to seize space by declining the Pawn.



3... Bc5	The problem with Arnold's 3rd move is it relinquished control of this square. Hanauer already has a significant advantage in development.



4. Bg5	Trying to gain time by means of a pin. However, Arnold has overlooked a tactical finesse.



4... Ne4	Thunderbolt from heaven! Arnold loses his game-sense and reacts without thinking.
	1 comment damalfi (1200) on 28-Dec-10: The only defence: Be3, BxB, fxB, Qh4+, g3, Nxg3, Nf3, Qh5, Bg2 or Rg1... a lost game.


5. Bxd8	The hand is quicker than the mind. Arnold played this move without seeing...



5... Bxf2#	...this. End of game, and they've barely sat down!
