This was a VERY ugly Budapest, purely from the standpoint that I was so caught up in "what's the book move?" that I overlooked the fact that I had a piece hanging! What a moron. Anyways, this game just illustrates how much more important mobilization is over material. After all, if your pieces are sitting at home, they may as well not be on the board!
1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e5 3. dxe5 Ng4 4. Bf4 Nc6 5. e3 Bb4+ 6. Nd2
Standard to here. Now I should just take on e5. But being so caught up in MCO memorization I fail to notice that white hasn't yet played Nf3 so my knight is undefended! So what do I do? Like a dummy, I play the book move as if he's already played Nf3.

6... Qe7
??

7. Qxg4 Bxd2+ 8. Kxd2 Qb4+ 9. Kc2 d5
Now white gets greedy. TOO greedy.

10. Qxg7 Bf5+
Notice I have three pieces attacking and he's only got two. I've got the initiative and he's got a piece & two pawns.

11. Kc1
Notice 11.Bd3 fails to 11...Qxc4 ! Better than walking into mate in one, I guess, but not much. Just delaying the inevitable.

11... Qe1#
