Possibly, though it might equally have been motivated by thoughts of bolstering the centre. Usual here is 2.d4, and some lines do lead to a quick c2-c3 subsequently.

This is OK if Black plans to develop ...Bg2 and ...Nge7, though even then he has to be alert to possible weaknesses on the dark squares, and make sure he gives himself enough room to manouevre in.

Creating a kind of Dutch Defence formation. Possibly White ought to consider exchanging on f5, then developing quickly towards a K-side attack.

Here you can see that the white pawns dominate the black squares, and with that the black bishop. The black pawns have control over the white squares.

This is starting to look very much like a Dutch Defence. Both sides seem to be aiming for a K-side attack. Who will get his in first?

An exchange that is very hard to evaluate. In closed positions, knights are generally supposed to be slightly better that the bishops, but as the annotator righly points out, both Black's bishops are doing sterling service in this position. The Q-side bishop applies pressure on the central light coloured squares; the g7 bishop provides protection for the weakened dark coloured complex on the K-side. Further, although it is White's "bad" bishop that goes for the knight, it is this same bishop that could prove dangerous to Black's K-side. On the whole, then, the exchange seems justified.

Also notice that the knight on d5 could have been chased away anytime by c3-c4

I agree, though possibly Black was worried about what White might contrive whilst the b7-bishop's action was interrupted in this way. From a6 it's hard to see much future for the knight...

Unfortunately,both Bxf3 and Qxf3 look better for White. With an extra piece and pawn, White ought to win from here...

...Although White doesn't have a whole lot of targets on the extreme Q-wing. I would have been inclined to castle here, Q-side if I was feeling really aggressive...
