11.Be2, i don't like this move. I prefer either 11.Bxe6 or Bb3 or even Nd5.

I think 11...d5 is best.

12.O-O-O?! b5! and white may be in trouble. 12.O-O is very quite, so i like 12.g4.

I think 12. O-O and g4 depends on the players style I would choose O-O because I would prefer working into an ending.

I like Be3 - probably followed by Bh6, getting rid of his g7 bishop to weaken his position? Although after Bf2, Bh4 pinnig the knight looks good too.

Hi Charles.... I always have this kind of set up against a King-Side fianchetto and have had positions similar to this on many occasions. I would have played Be3 here and probably followed with h4, this cuts out the threat of Qh4+ and keeps to the usual plan of Bh6. Obviously it depends on opponents response so sometimes plan has to be put on hold but here I would be thinking... Be3, h4, Bh6, Bxg7, I wouldn't mind playing Nd1 and have often done so in similar positions.... because after Ne3 and 0-0-0, Nf5! can be deadly.... or Rdg1 and h5.

I agree with John, Be3 would be more natural for me.

As white I probably would play Bh4 here, then maybe Qf4...

This looks like sicilian now, I also don't like 14.g5? as black has alot of good moves 14...Nh5, Nd7 or b4 all gives black the advantage. I think 14.a3 is best, stopping black's queenside attack while white keeps on attack on the kingside. 14.O-O!? looks interesting.

If white wants to continue his attack h4 seems the better option because this is very much like a dragon and so I would play it like a dragon and h4 is the dragon move. Now even better with the rook in support. However a3 is good to slow down you opponents advance his attack would slow and with his Q-Side slowed you can launch yours. My choice a3 because I have been trying to play more prophylactic moves recently.

You finished that quickly I didn't haave chance to see your game! I concur, I prefer blacks position at the end. which side would you put your king for safety? Good draw! Incidentally...although we were late...the occupants of my car accounted for 50% of the results!

As black, i would never accept a draw. Black is clearly better after 16...Bxf6 17.Qa3 Rb8 18.c3 Bh4. Good game and nice annotation as usual  

As a lower rated player I would have snapped your hand off at a draw. Blacks position looks stronger. I also like to swap pieces early on similar to his style an castle early. 2 many main pieces or late castling normally ends up in defeat.

Hi Charles... I agree final position is very even perhaps slightly better for black.. after Bxf6, 18. Qa3, Rb8 I think you have to play Rb1 and 0-0-0 is no longer possible so it's unclear which is best the square for your King due to the lack of King-side Pawns.... (not keen on 19. c3 as it restricts your Queen too much) re previous comments.. with B on e3 and h4 then Kf2 may be okay. Black does have the backward d pawn to consider but may be looking to play d5 at some point. Well played, another good result. John
