Trying to figure out why 11..fxe5 12. exf5 exf4 (12. Bxe5 trying to keep the extra pawn fails to 12..Qxe5 and the e4 pawn is pinned and white is losing) is bad for black. like...black is worse because of being underdeveloped and 13. Bc4 leaves them still with problems to solve but at least they are not down a pawn any more and I don't see a decisive follow up for white.

After 11....fxe5 12.exf5 exf4, White castles long (13.0-0-0). Bad as that is, it is probably no worse than the text. Fact is: Black is busted already.

There are so many attractive and winning continuations. I'll tell you the first one I thought of: 13.Qxf7ch. Just because. But that leads one to conclude that the immediate 13.e6 must be much stronger. Also winning is 13.Nb5 (which would also have been good the previous move)

First thing I thought of. But 13.e6 must be stronger: 13...Bxe6 14.Qxe6 Qxf4 15.Bc4 Qd6 16.Qc8ch ... (Qf7ch is almost as strong) 16...Qd8 17.Bf7ch etc.

This is such a great finish. I saw that you could win the bishop earlier and just missed that this was mate. This a great find. It seems like you found this over the board, and I am quite impressed.

The mate was not forced, and the Queen sac looks like the kind of move a tactician would think of, sound or not. A bit of calculation would have said; yep: this is good, I'll play it. This even though there might be better moves around. 13.e6 was stronger, I believe (but probably not have permitted Black such a plausible way of cutting the game short). On the other hand, though also winning, I don't think 13.Nb5 would have been any stronger than the Q sacrifice. Three winning lines, but you can win the game only once. Fine game, Charles, though very one-sided!
