! This builds up pressure on the Kingside and prevents castling. This is the major defect of 10...dxe5. | ||||||

Black again makes a foolish move trying to defend f7, it is better to give up the f7 pawn and get the king to safety. Why not take the knight you might say? Oh yeah because he doesn't want to give white control of an open e-file. This is kind of smart. Actually, defending f7 is black's only play, as white is threatening mate in two. If black takes the knight 12) ... exf3, then 13) Bxf7 Kd7 (only legal move) 14) Qe6#. | ||||||
