With the idea of Bf3-g2 and f2-f4. However black can win a pawn now. Althought the pawn on e4 is protected by Nc3 and Bf3, the Nc3 can be driven away and the Bf3 exchanged. Fritz gives it as plus 1.28 to black. | ||||||

At the time I thought my central pawn formation was good, covering several important squares. Fritz here recommends that white launches a sacrificial attack - 16. Nxe6 Bxe6 17. Nd4 Bd7 18. Rhe1+ Kf7 19. Nxf5 Qf6 20. Nxd6+ Bxd6 with black's advantage cut to about plus 1 | ||||||
