14. Bxe3 Bxh3
Continuing with my plan. Notice that after 15. gxh3 Qxh3, black threatens Ng4 followed by Rxf3 and mate on h2.

15. Nxe5
? Desperation, perhaps? White throws a knight away to try and defend his king.

15... Nxe5 16. Bd4
And now, perhaps, white realizes that he cannot yet bring the queen over to the king's defense -- black controls too many squares.

16... Bg4
And this move boots the queen to a bad square, making it harder for her to defend the kingside.

17. Qe1
The other alternatives, Qd2, Qc1, and Qb1 appear to be no better.

17... Nf3+
! I took a long think on this one -- it takes some guts psychologically to sacrifice material, especially hard-won material, but it seemed like the best move in this position. Black's recapture is forced, otherwise he loses his queen, and after 18. gxf3 Bxf3, white's king is trapped and exposed.

18. gxf3 Bxf3
This was the position I was hoping for when I played 16. Bg4; now white must defend against the mating threat of 19... Qg4 20. Kh2 Qg2#.

19. Qe5
The only way to do so (Be5 would fail to Qh3, and white would have no way to defend against mate on both g2 and h1). Now our queens dance -- black threatening mate, white defending against it.

19... Qh3
Threatening mate on both g2 and h1.

20. Qh2
The only way to defend against it.

20... Qg4+
Forcing white to play Qg3.

21. Qg3 Qh5
Forcing white to play Qh2 -- anything else loses the queen or the king.

22. Qh2 Qg5+
Again, forcing the queen to g3.

23. Qg3 Ng4
A quiet but devastating move. Black threatens Qh5, and there is no defense against the mate threats on both h2 and h1 after that.

24. Qh3
So white is forced to guard the h-file. At this point, I realize I can win white's queen if I can play Nxf2 , since after Kxh2 Bg2 wins the queen by force. This is currently impossible because of the pin on the knight, however.

24... Kb8
...a situation that's easily remedied. White has no good defense left.

25. Qg3
Saves the queen, but allows Qh5.

25... Qh5 26. Bxg7
At this point, my opponent told me that I had better resign before someone gets hurt...

26... Qh1#
... he just didn't say who. I always try to pretend there's a lesson in my chess games, and I suppose this is the price of floundering in the middlegame and neglecting to complete your development. Otherwise, I hope you just enjoyed a pretty nice attack. -Ethan
