14... Qa2
Blunder.

15. Nf4
Blunder! NxQa2 would be slightly better. Free queen. Nine points. By the mid game five thoughts should precede each move. 1. Can I force mate? 2. Can my opponent force mate? 3. Can I take a high value piece? 4. Can I block my opponent’s acquisition of an HVP? 5. Should I develop more positional advantage or push a pawn?

15... Qa5
Black recognizes the error and withdraws to safety.

16. Ke2
I don’t know. White pretends to sacrifice a knight? Black rejects the phony bait.

16... Qg5 17. Kd3
The king was here two moves back. Why have the king dance a jig while black develops?

17... Qf5+ 18. e4 Qa5 19. e5 Nh6
I like Ne7 better fore the reason stated. Though black pointlessly sacrificed the ability to castle.

20. g3 fxe5 21. Nh3 Nf5 22. Bb2 Nxd4 23. Re1
White decides to sacrifice the queen?

23... Nxf3 24. Re3 c5
Whoa. Black decides the knight is not worth saving, after it trampled the white queen. Nd4 would protect it. This c5 just hampers the queens open rank.

25. Rxf3 Qb4
The queen has no greater access here than where she was. Ke7 gets the rook into the field.

26. Kc2
I was going to complain about moving the king again, but this at least unleashes the white bishop a bit.

26... Qa5
Queen returns to a5 a third time.

27. Ne4
Nice. Frees the black bishop, threatening e5, and gives the knight greater mobility too.

27... b6
I’m thinking Qe1 has the potential for some damage. Though white does have lots of squares covered.

28. Bxe5
Yes. Black had no way to defend that pawn.

28... Qa3 29. Bxg7 Qa2+ 30. Kd3 Qb1+ 31. Ke3 Rg8 32. Bh6 Rxg3
Ok, that don’t make a lick of sense. Rook for pawn? White has both a knight and pawn on that square. This trade wasn’t worth it.

33. Rxg3 b5 34. Nd6
Nope. Black takes the bishop.

34... bxc4 35. Rg8+ Ke7
Oh, bad move. White nets a rook and bishop with Nxc8+!

36. Rxc8
Oh no. What had been eight points now becomes an even tree point trade.

36... Kxd6 37. Nf4 cxb3 38. Rh8 Qd1
White must watch out for Qd4+ which will cost him a rook.

39. Kf2
That didn’t defend against Qd4+.
