The IM said that I am doing quite well for my rating. I simply responded that I am following the principles I’ve learned over the years

17... Be7 18. Qg3
A wonderful move that puts my queen on a stronger, more active position

18... Rf7
One of the best moves available. I was expecting 18. Qe8

19. d5 Nd8 20. Nf4 Ba6 21. Bb3
I know you aren’t supposed to use pieces to protect pawns but I felt that I needed my pieces on active squares to continue to pressure black’s position (indirectly)

21... Bb7 22. Be3
Connects my rooks and finally completes my development

22... a4 23. Ba2 Ra7
Again, I was expecting a different response, like 23. … b5

24. dxe6 Nxe6 25. c5
I felt my position was improving little by little. It was at this point that the IM decided to spend more time on my board as well

25... Bc8 26. c6 Nxf4
A strong move, but I was expecting 26. … d5

27. Bxf4
Long term, I see a way to win a bishop, depending on black’s response

27... dxc6 28. h6
Potentially wins a bishop and long-term plans to force a mate net

28... g6 29. e6
Definitely a game changer!

29... Rf6 30. Bg5 Bxe6
?! - Black acknowledges that this was a critical mistake on his part.

31. Rxe6 Kf8 32. Qe5
Black resigns here as he acknowledges there’s very little he can do to salvage his position. He does test me to find the mate in the position

32... Qd8 33. Rxf6+ Bxf6 34. Qe6 Qd7 35. Qxd7
The final domino has fallen. Not only is the position lost, and the king has lost key defenders, but it is mate next turn regardless of what black plays
