statement from GK about this issue
Message from GameKnot customer support:
Hello, catzlaw,

If you would like to send a message to the entire team, please use the team
forum to post it. It has the exact same effect as was sending a team-wide
private message before -- everyone on the team will be alerted to it instantly,
and only the team members can access it. Also, using the team forum has many
added benefits -- when someone replies, it will be easier to track which message
the reply was meant for, and players can unsubscribe from individual message
threads if they are no longer interested in them, etc..

Sending a team-wide private message was the only way you can communicate with
the entire team before we introduced the private team forums. Because sending a
team-wide private message results in a separate private message sent to each
individual team member, unfortunately it creates a significant load on our
servers because it can quickly avalanche out of control for teams with many
members (especially with multiple team-wide replies back and forth). The team
forum doesn't suffer from such disadvantage as it was designed to handle it from
the start.

Thank you for choosing GameKnot as your premier chess battlefield!

Best regards,

How about suggesting that Captains and perhaps Co-Captains only have the privilege to send messages to the team - cuts their usage problem to a fraction but keeps everyone in the team informed regardless of membership.

Sorry if this has already been said. I can't be arsed reading over a page.

sending team message
Can someone please advise me on this:
I used to be able to send a message to my entire team, but the link to do so seems to be gone. I`ve decided to leave my team and thought it would be an honorable thing to say goodbye and thank the team for their dedication over the years.

@intrepidpixie
You can leave a message on the team forum. That's the best you can do since the Message Your Team option is now just "Post a Message for Your Team"

Having thought about the removal of the Message Your Team option the one definite improvement would be to allow ALL team members, regardless of premium status, to be able to post to the team forum. Before the change, they could both send messages to the whole team AND post to the team forum.

Greetings.
Your inquiry is not too personal. Simply put- This may sound cryptic, but our sun is rising and setting in a different location (more northeast than due east) and the doomsday seed vault in Norway has just been hurriedly sealed. Geological and celestial events are accelerating. The daily ritual of playing chess is not so important to me anymore, and my focus and attention should be on preparedness for what is coming down the pike...
Be aware. Be safe.

My gosh are we nice or what? We are on our second page of talking about the change to team messages and no one suggests that pixie should read some of the messages.

Come on gang! And don't tell me that pixie's sexual designation has nothing to do with it.

want to know more...
From my own experience it is not a subject people want to talk about. And it`s certainly not a subject certain governments want to disclose. Imagine the chaos that would ensue....

@MrM
No, I am not 100% sure about non-premium members being able to post to the team forum, but I am going to scour my team's forum to see who was posting.

I have sent GK the following message:

From: kneilca2
Reply-to: kneil@mts.net
Board#
Subject: Send a message to my team feature removed
I wish to join in the chorus and voice my concern and displeasure over the removal of the "Send a message to my team" feature from this site. As a team captain, I require a certain amount of communication with my team members to keep the team functioning. These teams serve a social function for many players and the messaging is part of that.

I am aware of GK's concern over the misuse and excessive use of this feature and do appreciate the multiplying effect that multiple messages cause and as a result put unneccesary strain on the system resources. The use of the team forum as a collective bulletin board is a workable solution, however, a few important aspects are missing. If you could bear with me for a bit, I'd like to share some of them with you.

1. All team members, not just premium members, need to be able to post in order to respond to posts.
2. Teams and members need to be able to "clean-up" the forums by "hiding" deleted posts and threads in the same way that one can manage an email account.

In future, in would be both courteous and diligent customer service on the technical team's part to have some kind of consultation with the paying users of this system. As much as many decisions may appear simply logical, necessary and trivial to those running the technical interface, they often result in a noticeable change in the customer experience and also can impact the social aspects of this site.

I appreciate your having taken the time to review these comments and am hopeful that you will be able to accommodate most or all of them.

Thank you,
Ken Neil
Captain of ***PEACEKEEPING FORCE***

team messages
Indeed. I should have read through the thread, but what zigs and zags within the beehive that is my mind has been on overdrive for the past day or so. Anyway, it doesn`t really matter. I just quit my team. They`ll figure out why I left soon enough...lol

pennsylvaniadan, yes I have inside information. Forget the Mayan calender. Look to the Kolbrin Bible ( a secular bible written by the Egyptian initiates)
Mrmarmalade- you can always google "doomsday seed vault Norway" They made this very public.
kneilca2

yes, I am getting the same feeling. The Mayan calendar goes well beyond 2013. Other versions have been found and don't forget the Spanish did their level best to burn all of the Mayan codices. So if Intredidpixie has an inside track, it's not Mayan.

johnclark, I suggest you read my previous messages (wink) your gender notwithstanding...( wink)
