![]() While Ipissimus (Martin) now has a vacation flag up, I thought I would sneak in another annotation on the perils of having your king in or near the centre during the middle game with the queens on the board. Sometimes you will get away with it and sometimes you will not. The issue could be that if a rook or a queen ends up on the same file as your king, you could be putting yourself at risk of a middlegame mating attack starting with a nasty, decisive pin or discovered check. Here is an example of a game between our club newbie, pawnish53 and myself. gameknot.com/annotation.pl/king-caught-in-the-centre?gm=65454 If anyone else has been involved in the game, victor or victim and wish to share your experience of this then please do not hesitate to do so here. Kind regards, Joanne |
