Interest in the continuation of this club.
Has anyone any interest in this club being continued or are we just going let it lapse?

Please post your views in this thread please.

I have been not much active in this club, but it would be nice to continue it,Joanne has been very committed to this club,it would be a pity to finish it.
But I think after November,16th ,when the due will not be payed,it will be cancelled or we will no more be able to post.

I was thinking more of opening a new club and transferring the main themes of the original club just like Joanne did 8 years ago from Freddy (easy19).
This will only work if there is sufficient interest otherwise it could become a white elephant.
We have sufficient time to complete as this club will only become inactive in 3 or 4 months time.
Thoughts would be appreciated.

David.

This club served it's members one time
I find it sad that there is just not a show of participation in this club that was started up by our founder Joanne and I do not believe it is something GK club members are really interested.

This is a chess site and any club made for the express reason to learn to play better chess is just not acknowledged as it should be. I do believe that others have tried and have come and have left or are even not planning on renewing their clubs.

If you are truly interested in being part of a teaching, learning club, you seem to have to look for other places beyond GK to find such a place at this time.
This club served those who were on it for many years and it was quite active. I unfortunately believe the club will be History.

It takes time and willing people to teach others in playing chess. You can use online training and use the testing provided on the website like the newest 5 minute Blitz Attack, or the tactics lessons here on GK.

1.club would start over fresh like any other club.
2. membership would be granted by the new founder.
3. some people would be made moderators.
4. club members would need to post if they are going to be active
or just here to read the posts.

I would be keen to keep the club going in some form or other. I still have plenty to learn and maybe even a little to teach nowadays.

I think in honor of Jo we need to keep the club alive. I could participate more.

I didn't see how we could. But, I see what Dave is saying, and I more or less agree with him. Having said that, I think that the only way to keep things running is for Dave to start a new club with all the themes. I did something just like it in my club. So, when TA became less active, I reopened my club, and it was to continue what Joe started. Therefore, it probably makes more sense for Dave to start one, but I'm also perfectly understanding if there isn't another club, either. Afterall, my club, for example, will close for good once up for renewal. Thus, I don't have an opinion for Dave here. Instead, my only suggestion for Dave, in terms of a club or not is to do what he feels is right.

I don't think that there'll be a continuation as the club is up for renewal in exactly a week. Dave didn't just leave this club but is not a premium member, as of now.

time is nearing Comment here to have yourself removed soooner
Please remove me from the club
What day will the Club auto shutdown... if it is not renewed?
We will get the message that you have been removed from the club I think
Seen that happen before in the club that TA had a few times...
If you want to be removed sooner just message in this thread to get removed

Only non mods can be removed If you are a mod you can demote yourself

That was because TA closed his club down. And, you have to remove everyone from your club to close it down, as it then becomes removing yourself, and everything is cleared out.

Might as well just do nothing it just goes inactive.

I demoted myself to relieve the stress
so stressful
and I decided it was the best thing to do as by doing so I can say what ever I want now

I feel so sad that our founder passed away and that the club was one of the best on Gameknot at one time.

Yea I guess unless some how the club fee gets paid.
