One of my new year's resolutions will be to put more effort into that, attract more members, and put more work into improving my own game. I'm Harry, and today I started a new team, Chess Friends gameknot.com We are doing okay so far and we have a team of 4 and have got ourselves involved in a match already. I should say here that we are indebted to Neil, amacivn for his tolerance in allowing us to get our very first match up and running. I have now got my head around the system for setting up matches although I expect that I have much to learn. Any advice will be welcome. Cheers Harry

Another player asked about my team's name, and while I think my sense of humor is obvious, that's not always the case. My reply: Among the many uninformed and ridiculous things that President Trump has said, he once talked at some length about how well Nambia is doing. nobody could tell if he meant Namibia, or Zambia, or if he was just making up baloney as he often does. Around the same time there was rampant speculation about his tweet referencing "covfefe" and when asked what he thought about the long-dead Black American freedom pioneer, he clearly had no idea who Frederick Douglass was, and winged an answer as though the man were a modern-day figure. So, my appreciation for the absurd situation of having such a buffoon as leader of the free world led me to form the team with a description referencing those ludicrous moments. Thanks for asking! The team itself is not really political, just another great way to meet other chess enthusiasts and play chess Eric/Ironwoodhollow

pawntificator 27-Jul-20, 00:15	This is an interesting thread. I imagine that oldhub is trying to encourage people to pick up some french and I think that is a great idea. Everybody already knows English. I wish we had more Spanish speakers because I'm pretty good at that one. I would like to learn more French though. I love the Latin based languages. I really want to learn the Cyrillic and also the kanji of the Japanese and...well...I want to learn every language.

I have to translate what he is saying as it comes to me in Spanish and then I have to translate what I am saying to him. But he is a very nice, loyal team player. It would be nice if more people sent a message in French to oldhub. I have not really understood what he was saying in his messages of the past until this last message, which is clearer. The message seems to be directed at an old friend who he is unable to contact through a private message. What do you think, pawntifex?
