My improvement
In December 2020/January 2021 I have contacted several individuals- most of them captains- and informed them that I shall be tutored at the Pretoria Chess Club. I did this so that everyone who knows me as a player of 1240 understands my improvement, and that I shall not be accused of cheating.
Although the tutoring has been halted for a while due to South Africa going back to level 4 lockdown, and because I got a knee replacement last week and cannot attend the Pretoria Chess club right now, I am proud to have hit 1380 a few minutes ago against a worthy and strong opponent.
Again I post my intention of improving beyond 1400. As soon as I am mobile I shall attend my tutoring again. I do not know if I shall be successful in achieving my goal, but I have to do my best.

I neglected to add the invaluable contribution to my chess education by archduke_piccolo, who never shies away from analyzing my poor attempts at emulating such a formidable player as himself. He has opened three threads, which I study whenever I can, cross referencing and back reading constantly, and which I copy into my personal little booklet with the latest updates every time he posts a new analysis, technique or study of a position. I am greatly indebted for his unceasing help and criticism, and must mention him by name as a major contributor to my recent successes.

That is great, Riaan. Let's you and I have a team match. You are now about my rating. I once played 48 unrated games ending March, 2012 against rwurtinger. He didn't let me win even one game. He is a great guy and I have strong affection for him all these years later. He currently has a rating of 2575 and he is difficult to pair for team games. He could think so far ahead of me, and is, of course, brilliant. We are still occasionally in touch. I think it is incredible that he would even take on such a novice as I was in those days. It speaks strongly of his character.

Shirley, you are most welcome. Although I am recuperating very well, I still can't sit behind my laptop yet. I only use my iPad at the moment- I don't sit on a chair mostly to keep my knee elevated. Co-captain Ian (theknightslayer) is a front line worker and is forced to work double shifts in the U.K. at the moment. He cannot be online as much as he would like. Co-captain Mark (marcusleus) is also under severe pressure at the office. Please, send over any challenges but be patient for us to answer. At the moment I can't do much. I am very sorry about my inability to be an effective team captain at the moment.
