Time Clock
It seems to me that Gameknot's time clock is, shall we say, erratic. I'll make a move in a game, come back 6-8 hours later, and I'll have lost a full 24 hours of the on my clock.

Then another time, I will make a move, come back the next day, and notice that my game clock has only decreased by 6 hours. And yes, I have taken into account the amount of time that my opponent gets.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or am I just not very observant?

I must admit that I have never noticed, Tim, so I don't know if GameKnot's time clock is correct or not. It probably depends on what time zone GameKnot's business office is on. I think that GameKnot allows more time to make a move on weekends, but I am not sure of that either. Somehow, in the back of my memory I think that may be so.

The next time it happens
be sure to reload your page in your browser. This might be the problem.
Yes, GK does allow extra time for weekends.

Time Added
Q4: It seems extra time was added to a game and my opponent hasn't moved yet. Why?

A: 24 hours are automatically added to all non-postponed games (but not to exceed the original time control) every Saturday between 5-6pm local GK time (PST) to prevent timeouts over the weekend for people who play from work/school and don't have computers at home. It is designed to ensure that if you make your move on Friday, you should have until the same time on Monday to make your next move.

Also, extra time will be added to all games in case of an unplanned website/network outage lasting more than an hour or due to any other extraordinary events (such as natural disasters, etc.) affecting the majority of players on GameKnot. A special announcement will be sent out to everyone in such cases.

Please don't rely on the extra time being added for you and always postpone your games manually using the link located directly below your active games list, if you need more time to make your next moves.

I don't rely on this, bevo-vx. And, that's why, given that the gym has reopened, as noted, I've increased my automatic decline challenge rules. This is why instead of 2 or 3 days, my automatic decline challenge rules starts at 7. That's because, if we weigh this with the work schedule, and time management, I don't have that much time. So, I make room and time for extra days. And, I agree that vacation flags is also the way to go. In fact, I postponed for Tropical Storm Isaiah, and I'm glad that I did.
