GK still flexin' the muscles ... a new message ?
Just received this message .... I've deleted the teams name ... just in case they get to excited ...

"The challenge from team xxxxxxxxxxxx has been automatically cancelled due to one of the participating players in your team becoming unavailable for team matches: welshwizard3131. Reason: More than 2 days since last time online."

Not seen this before ... the challenge was for a player who has requested 7 day matches only ... so if he isn't
On line every 2 days we can't match him ? ... so why do we have 7 day matches ... makes no sense

He will soon be on Gameknot so you can send the challenge again and you named him.
This 2 day message has been around since I have been on Gameknot (11 tears).

we never made the challenge .. another team did I responded ...I named OUR player and OUR team not the other teams name or the player ... not sure why you tried to point that out ...

Never seen it before ... in 13 YEARS ..

I wasn't asking how long the message has been around ... I was wondering why we had it ... it seems pointless

Taking it further if the other team had responded when we replied the match would be on ...whether he moved or not
Our guy is moving frequently av around 15 hours is on line right now as I post yet GK block somebody for less than 2 hrs ... makes no sense ... these are difficult times give players some slack

I have seen this before, and it's usually because they're not for a certain period. They get busy, extra, and you'd probably know if that member was suspended first. As it would give a reason for unavaliable which would be suspension. But, more often then not, the member gets very busy with real life and just can't be online.

Cheers Joe ... it seemed strange ....

Suspended for less than 2 hrs lol ... if a player chooses the 7 day option he must have to show as online every 2 days or he can't be matched again , if he's available or not ... that I didn't know ... I can't find it in any rules ... maybe I need to ask GK

Less then 2 hours is not a suspension. It probably means that life was real busy and just came back on, within those 2 hours, for the first time in over 2 days.

Not sure what I'd call it then ... he was available... then GK made him unavailable... then they made him available again ... all within 2 hrs ....

The 7 days is a valid Team option ... I've used it to "cover " a player who has timed out ... for outside issues... in the past... and hopefully to stop future timeouts ...a few players request it ... I wonder if it's the same for members

Anyway I doubt it will come up again .. @ least I hope not ... cheers Joe

Okay, Neil. I mistakenly had your player on another team. Sorry, no big deal.

So, what happened was you responded to a 7 day challenge and your player was available at
that time. Very shortly after you responded to the challenge your team mate had not been on
Gameknot for two days, hence the automatic cancelled challenge. Then your player did return
to Gameknot and was available again.

This can happen on 3 day and 5 day challenges as well as 7 day. The logic is, why assign a 3 day
challenge (or 5 day or 7 day) to a player that has been off Gameknot for that long (2 days).

You got it Mike... that's more of less right

We assigned the guy because he was challenged ....

Usually when he becomes active we get him a match within 24 hrs ...he's easy to match even tho he's 7 days... which is why I find the message strange ... you can be set on 7 day matches but you have to be online every 2 days ... so why isn't everyone on 5 max

But thanx for the info I didn't realise this ... what I call "temp suspension" can also happen on 3/5 days

(He's not a recent timouter I found it hard finding his last bunch of timeouts to be honest)

Footnote: when I was in hospital I had a bunch of timouts ... GK enforced a... to many games finished below 16 moves suspension ... I wasn't allowed to start new games for 40 days or some nonsense... I threatened to cancel my membership... GK were obviously so concerned about this they reinstated my membership rights ... I felt rather good about myself till I realised my 40 day suspension had finished !!! ... yeah GK let me know... they had a sense of humour back in the day 😁

Yeah I've had this happen several times to me. It's annoying but understandable to me when it comes to trying to avoid timeouts.

Also how long has that suspension been around now for when you lose too many games in under 16 moves? I keep treating it like it's fairly new. It sounds like now it's been around a while...which is probably true, time flies

That 16 game rule has been around awhile, Joe, but it is a relatively new rule for GameKnot. A good one, I think.

Yeah I thought it was new. I'm sure there are those who still resign a ton from move 17 though.
