Lap dogs
goldentweety sent me a copy of the pm he received from knightemplar1 were the co captains of our team the knights templar were referred to as lap dogs, not very nice at all i was upset and very annoyed that someone would see us like that.
I sent a pm to knightemplar1 letting him know how i felt, he said he was annoyed with goldentweety that's all. and has given me a sincere apology which i have accepted.
I do hope he has apologised to apatzer and the_jim as i think he was working with us at the time then we can all get on with running our teams and playing chess.

Congratulations knightemplar~1
I do wish knightemplar~1 good luck with his new team and his idea with smart challenges.

But why all the secrecy? Since it s a good idea why not offer it openly to all teams?

The most information I have been able to gather is that it is a plan to save captains time and unnecessary work. The posting of teams implies membership and friendship but it is also a smart way to navigate from team to team when creating challenges.

For the benefits, you have to look at 3-4 man matching that is part of the smart challenges.
This is a great idea. You need fewer challenges to keep your team busy and if the challenge is offered so that players have the same time per move roughly, the match should finish in approximately the same time as a two man match. In fact I came to the same conclusion after our merger with the UNKNOWN. We started accepting a lot more 3-4 and larger matches in April to keep a balance between the free players and the busy players

All in all less work for the captains and that is great.

Another possible benefit is that through the passage of time, the higher ranked teams should remain at or near their level because you only lose one rung on the ladder for a loss, but the benefits to lower ranked teams is considerable. We all know that if a lower rung team should win, they will advance halfway to leading team. By securing top level teams in the membership, we are sure to see a rise in the lower ranked teams, and perhaps a general rise in the group as well.

In fact for the Crusaders it has happened very quickly, now holding their own at or above the 30 level mark in less than two months. I have not paid attention to the other teams as I have a large team to take care of, and we usually sit in the top ten. As a large team it is easy to accept open challenges and it is easy to respond to challenges. Not all of our players are busy and we have quite a few matches on the go.

I do congratulate knightemplar~1 on his success so far, but the Knights Templar will not be playing the Crusaders without an apology. I wish him luck on both the ladder and the table as he states on his home page that they will be a permanent fixture in the top 10 of both the ladder and the table.

Good luck and congrqatulations

When I look at what the Fighting Warriors say about the smart challenge
It appears that they "the Fighting Warriors" started this Smart Challenge.

What do the Fighting Warriors say about the smart challenge, Jimmy?
the-jim
22-Oct-17, 15:12

Have a look on their team home page
It appears that they are in the smart-
challenge, but it looks as if they started it
That's how it comes across to me.

I disagree that the Fighting Warriors started Smart Challenge, Jimmy. The only statement I can see on their team page that might indicate that they did is this:

" We are calling this project "Smart Challenges".

I think Smart Challenge was the initial idea of knightemplar_1. Perhaps Fighting Warriors will correct me if I am wrong.

Shirl
I know they never started it, but if anyone don't know better and see how
the fighting warriors worded the smart challenge; it appears that it is something
which they started.
If you look how the smart challenge is listed on other team home pages
it is clear that it was not started by that individual team, but it is not so
clear on the FW team page.

We will wait for a Fighting Warrior response, Jimmy. But they might not keep up to date with the Captains Club.

Shirl
I had a PM from SAM and he seems happy with what the FW have stated
So there that's the end of that!

I'm sure Sam (knightemplar_1) is happy about it, and I'm not smiling. Fighting Warriors is one of my favorite teams, and has supported my team from its inception. If there is a misunderstanding there, it should be corrected.

You like interesting things and so what do you see of interest here hawktalon

23-Oct-17, 12:33

Hi Jimmy, this is what I see with regard to hawktalon, the player you asked me about above. When I looked at his current chart, I could see that he likes to play higher rated players, probably to try to improve his chess skills. So when I looked at him quickly yesterday, nothing really attracted my attention.

Today I looked at his extended chart, which is what you are probably curious about. He has an enormous drop in his chart in 2008. What really got my attention is that his current chart only shows 12 timeouts. Curious. He resigned most of those games shown in his huge drop in the extended chart. When I tried to pick out a big drop in timeouts, I couldn't find one. I did count 6 in a row, so I assume that his 12 timeouts is correct.

He didn't play for 5 years from 2008 until 2014. From his chart and past game history, his chess skills now seem a little better than 2008. I see he has recently played team games against Kings of the Castle, so this is where he attracted your attention.

Whatever caused him to resign all those games in 2008 and not play on GameKnot for five years, who can tell, except himself, of course.

Wow
I have to say Shirl, you are very good at this. very good

hawktalon is not a he, I see. She is a female. Perhaps she was young, and she went to College during those five years.   No age is given on her profile.

Posting for a Mate
From bearz2

Hello, sad_but_true,

Hey ... Could you past this from me on the club page..

We are not part of the Smart Challenge Group !!
Don't agree with it and never will.
From Bearz2 ...
THE DUTCH TEAM.
I would like all captains to remove us from the list.

bearz2 will have to message each Captain because at least half will never read his post.

**** Ref; Sad- But - True Communications ****
I agree with with mikemate entirely. I'm startled by him when he wrote that at least half of the captains would never read what the Dutch captain would write even in the default language of GK. I did not know the degree of illiteracy at GK was that high... 50% ++ , I thought that was the percentage of the readers of this forum who don't recognize sarcasm when they see it but are still able to read it... Hey, Guys, DUTCH TEAM has been removed from the elite SMART CHALLENGES consortium effective July 2019. Get that?
shirlmygirl
25-Jul-19, 14:58

The captains of Team Captains of Gameknot are not illiterate at all. Many of them don't regularly read the posts. That is what Mike(mate) is saying. It is likely that the captain of The Dutch Team read your very nasty post on the PEOPLE WHO CHEAT thread which probably prompted his distancing himself from your team. You may have really damaged your Crusaders team again, Knightemplar-1.

A sentence from knightemplar-1's message above:

"Hey, Guys, DUTCH TEAM has been removed from the elite SMART CHALLENGES consortium effective July 2019. Get that? "

My question is: Is the Smart Challenges consortium really ELITE? I don't think so.

A humble request...

knightemplar-1 has been removed from this club. My I suggest we stop talking about him please.

Why
Why would you say that apatzer ?

I cannot think you would be happy with what he said ?

Just a question , no offence

I'm wondering about the next person he attacks , you could just ignore what is said about your er..... acquaintance (?) ,

Or ask the person who was insulted and attacked twice , let Shirley decide ... I - 1000% support her , and you could ignore this thread , or let it fade away , I sorta get the impression that he will crop up again ... they usually do

Anyway no offence , to you anyway ..

Regards
Neil

No offense taken😁

Thank you for asking.

I actually meant in the future, (going forward) I did not mean the current post's as everyone has a right to defend themselves.

I would rather him fade into obscurity. The more we collectively feed trolls. The more we feed into their egos. Also the chances of someone coming here to respond on his behalf. Is increased. If we keep speaking of him. As he is now unable to directly defend himself. Because he is banned from here.
