COV Masks
I'm not really a fan of mask wearing, but I do wear an N-95
mask when I go out. NYC is still pretty much still on lockdown.

My main complaint about masks is that the airflow is not so great.

On eBay, I saw an electric mask, www.ebay.com
This idea is great, but it has a few problems. The battery only
lasts 4 hours and the hose tends to break.

I have searched the internet for a more sturdy and long lasting
version of the same idea, with no luck.

It would seem to me that designing and constructing one of these
type units is not rocket science. It could be designed around a replaceable
rechargeable cell phone battery. This way you could swap it out for
continuous use, and recharge the batteries in a separate recharger.
The unit is just a fan, filter and battery in an enclosure with a tube
leading to the mask.

I believe anyone able to get such a device, which is well made, to
market could make a serious profit.

For many, it will be time to head back to work where masks are
mandatory. This device will make breathing a lot easier.

If anyone is up for the challenge or knows someone who is,
please let us know....

My mom helped me make my own mask, I think with some curtain fabrics we never used. I know it isn't as good as an N-95 or any of these other fancy masks, but considering I haven't gone out in public for the past several weeks, it will do for me.

I don't like wearing a mask either, but I know it's meant to help protect others. I am hardly out in public, but if I ever go out for an extended time, I'll probably consider a better mask. I do go for a flu shot Wednesday come to think of it.

100 Days
Biden will implement a public mask policy for his first 100 days. Given the pandemic did not disappear from the "fake" news November 4th, or any other time, this thread remains germane.

We need a really good vaccination rate to boost us to "herd immunity.". That is regarded as 70-80% (Dr. Fauci explained to opthamologist Rand Paul that if you think it is 22%, you are alone in that), but as the vaccination itself is only 90-95% effective we really need 5% over the herd immunity level.

Remember, the Covid vaccine is ineffective. VACCINATIONS are effective. Critical difference.

This thread is about a mask design.

The mask debate, COV info and vaccine info is best put in it's own thread.

@lord s: Why is the covid vaccine ineffective at 95% when the annual flu vaccines are in the 55% effective rate?

Vaccines are Ineffective
I had to read that myself a couple of times before I understood it.

The vaccine could be 100%, but remains completely ineffective until it is administered. Vaccines are not effective at all stored in glass vials at the proper temperature. Only *vaccinations* are effective in halting the spread of disease.

The same is true of masks. Masks are not effective if you keep them at home, folded up in your pocket, or worn under your chin. Masks are only effective when they cover your nose, mouth, and chin.
