![]() Something a little closer to home. There is a wonderful image of her receiving an enormous chess piece, a queen. She was the most powerful woman in the world at that time, and today (as of four years ago) could safely be regarded as the most powerful person in the "free" world. The New Yorker has an article about her, comparing her to a chess player. I know some users may not be interested in German politics, but I believe the rest of the world has much to learn from the superior practices of better nations. My hope is not to inject more politics into the GameKnot Captain's forum, but rather to replace the Biden/Trump thread now winding down with one of far greater international appeal. It would to the American players a world of good to break out of their nasty insular shells and view things from another perspective. A member of the Mountain Men team recently left our team. He was German, the only German we had. I do not know which mountains he loved or climbed. The Matterhorn is a German peak, is it not? It might be Austrian. At any rate, my hope is Classica, Apatzer, Scaggsvillescott, Torric, JohnClark, and others can find things of interest on this thread to broaden their perspective of the world, and develop and improve commendable leadership qualities as demonstrated by Ms. Merkel, as opposed to the nasty qualities associated with the pigeon chess player Herr Trump. |
