Introduction
As my bio states I am an ICU nurse. This is basically my third career. I have been a teacher and an accountant. Nursing is not a pleasant way to make a living; it is basically hard physical labor that tends to be very frustrating. How many times does anyone want to care for violent teens, people who overdose time and again, and others who should be allowed to die peacefully instead of being vented, swanned, dialized and so forth. The part that I do enjoy is working with my fellow nurses - a great group of people. One of the things I look forward to is chess and thi interesting people I meet on Gameknot.

Hi all!
My name is Georges, I'm 24 and live in Montreal, Canada.
I am doing a Masters in music composition and am also teaching music theory at the University of Montreal. I'm playing chess since I was a teenager, but I stoped for a few years, due to lack of time meeting real opponents. Since I've discovered GameKnot, I've returned to playing and when I get a little better I'll probably try some OTB tournaments.
Happy to be in your club!

Hi Everybody
Well, a little about myself, My name's Christopher. I am currently studying chemistry at university in Edinburgh. I am 20 years old, and have been fascinated with chess since my mum taught me to play at the age of 7. Been playing more and more recently, playing around with the english at the moment, it's not an opening I normally play. So expect a drop in my ratings, i might learn something from it though!

Hola from Mexico City
Greetings from the largest city in the world, my name is edú, my Dad taught me the game many years ago, after not playing forever and discovering this site, I'm now a chess addict as many of you, looking forward to contribute in the threads and to learn more of the game stratgies here @GK.

Hello
My name is Josh and I'm currently studying medicine in southern california. Learned this game at the age of 8, but did not begin playing regularly until about a year and a half ago (missed my neural window unfortunately). I'm impoving and finding the game quite addicting. Someday when I have more time, I'd like to find a nice OTB club and maybe even take a stab at some amatuer tournaments. 2000 rating seems like a nice magical number and maybe I'll make it there before I die. If not, I'll have fun trying. My wife says she "counts her blessing" because some men are into strippers and gambling and I just like chess.
Other interests? Ha! I had those once. Right now my life is pretty busy with school and a new baby.
I'm always open to challenges - love the game.
-Josh

My name is Kari, I'm 28 years old and from southern Finland. I've played chess since I was a little kid. My late father taught me the game and I played quite a lot with him and my friends. But actively I've only been playing since last spring when I joined GK, and since my level of playing has improved a lot.
I'm open for all discussion, and welcome challenges from all players.

An Introduction if you please...
Hello everyone. I guess a little about myself. I have been playing chess on and off for several years, but only recently began to attempt to study the game. I came upon GK by accident as I was looking around for others to play on line. I have been very happy with GK so far and recently joined The Riders of Rohan chess team. Most in my family do not play the game so GK and other internet players sum up my competition. I have much to learn to improve my game and would welcome any friendly nonrated games to help me out.
I am retired from the navy, married to a wonderful lady and have four children with one on the way. I love to brew beer and will begin to work toward a Beer Tasters Certification for homebrewing competitions. I also enjoy kiting and collecting interesting chess sets and/or pieces.

Hello
Hi, my name is Peter and I am a RN from Singapore. I started to play chess when I was 18 after reading a chess primer for beginners. I hope to learn more of the royal game here from the stronger players.

Hello everyone
Hi everyone and thanks for welcoming me into the club. My name is Phil and I have been playing on Gameknot for about 2 years now. I am the captain of the reasonably succesful Bumbling Eejits Team.
I played Chess a lot as a child with my Grandfather, but lost it during the teens and the twenty-somethings. I was given a set for my 30th birthday by my brother-in-law and have played every day since then. (I'm 33 in January!)
I live in Otley, near Leeds in West Yorkshire, UK. I am just completing my in-job training as a Primary School Teacher (Year 4 - 8-9 year olds) and have two daughters myself, so chess is having to take a bit more of a back seat at the moment - but I still try to play every day.
Outside chess I enjoy running (completed my first marathon in October), climbing, and football (for my sins I am a season ticket holder at Leeds United!)
I welcome challenges from other players and like to play games where winning is second and we can enjoy a good conversation and improve our game together.
Thanks again for the welcome and I look forward to getting to know lots of you soon!
Regards
Phil - Yurigagarin -

Hi
Thanks for letting me join your club. I'm from Belgium. I love reading, study informatics and started playing chess again after a 10-year break. I never was any good at it, but I this time I'll try and keep playing it.
Sofar, I enjoyed this site very much. Great company, perfect interface, interesting tournaments, in short, loads of fun. Hope to play some club games and see what's it all about.
As I have no time to study it, I try to improve by reading stuff and playing games...practice should make perfect, although it may take some time .

Hi!
Hi everyone! My name is Michal Szczygiel, I come from Wroclaw in Poland, and I have just been accepted to join the club - thanks to the club founder and moderators - thank you!
I am 28 years of age, and have been enjoying GameKnot for a year. Hopefully, I will also play many games against the other members of our club. If my challenge decline limits are too strict for anyone who wants to challenge me, please send me a message. I prefer fast games, and I am practising every kind of opening. What I find proper to be discussed in a club is chess, so I will be happy to participate in such discussions if they occur.
