Studying the Board
This sort of ties into what we've been talking about in this club. Having said that, which is why annotating a game is so popular, one way to become is to study past games. So, I decided to play a simultaneous game against myself. It's not an actual game, so it's not under my games, but what I'm doing is setting up a FEN notation. It's going to involve the Caro Kann since there's still a lot for me to learn. Now, this is actually borrowed from two threads, in the, "Walking the Walk and Learning How to Run" club, and one thread from the, "Knights of Honor" chess club which I've added comments. One being archduke's_piccolo's consulation thread. And, the other being a Caro Kann challenge between brigadecommander and stalhandske, as well as KOH club. It's a very similar idea to the supplemental version of Talking the Talk, which basically=a club before that one called, "Walking the Walk." Now, it'll start with the second move from white, 2.d4. And, it will be like another quiz, but this time, there's no right or wrong answer. In this case, I won't tell you why or why not any suggestions are good choices or not, as it's up to you to figure this out, as that's how you learn by actively seeing the consequences of this move.
In addition, it'll also be presented to the, "Alternative Chess Club". So, like I said, everyone gets a say, but I will base my decision on majority. Meaning, that I will make a move, if this is what the majority votes on.
So, 1.e5, c6 2.d4 have been played. And now, it's black's turn to move.

NOw follows d5!
So far, we've got a vote for 2...d5. Any other suggestions? I'll wait until tomorrow, after which, I'll assume that black has played 2...d5.
Ok, and now 2...d5 has been played. This means, that it's now white's turn to move.

3.cxd to be followed by 4.c4 after 3....cxd the Panov Botvinnik Attack.Leads to more open positions then other variations.
@caveman1960
Do you mean 3.c4 or 3.exd5
caveman1960 03-Apr-14, 19:38
3.exd5.......
So far, we have a vote for 3.exd5. Let's see what the others have in mind. This time, I'll give everyone until tomorrow night due to my work schedule. After that, white plays 3.exd5.

exd5! Open it up!
Allright, 3.exd5 it is. Over to black, and like before, I'll wait until a little later tomorrow night for the exact same reason.

3.....cxd 4.c4 the Panov Botvinnik Attack

Yes I agree with caveman1960.
Ok, 3...cxd5 it is.
Since you voted on it yesterday, we'll also say that 4.d4, as talked about, has been played. It's over to black. Now, what I'm planning to do is involve other clubs in this thread, to. This way, more people can learn and improve. I'll wait, for possibly longer then tomorrow, though, for people's vote since there's more to be involved. I would give it two days before posting the answer.

3.....Nf6 protecting the pawn a second time and developing
tux-fine 07-Apr-14, 06:46
Again I must agree with caveman1960.
Then, 3...Nf6 it is.

4.Nce pressuring d4
caveman1960 08-Apr-14, 16:43
3.Nc3........
I'm sorry, 4...Nf6, since it was the fourth, so now I see what you're saying. And, @caveman: I presume 5.Nce was a typo, and that you meant 5.Nc3.
And now, comes 5.Nc3
caveman1960 09-Apr-14, 22:32
I play 5.....Nc6 here but I think we should defer to what the 12th World Champion and paramount defender of the Caro Kann plays. So I vote for 5....e6 as per Anataly Karpov
So, we'll say that black has played 5...e6
caveman1960 11-Apr-14, 18:16
6.Nf3 simple developement
So, now comes 6.Nf3.
