Domino Defense
The Domino Defense, which I don't recommend, but will show starts off with 1.e4, e5 2.Nf3, f6 So, it looks like this.
Now, this is known to lose because white plays 3.Nxe5!, and if 3...fxe5 you have a nasty check with 4.Qh4+, which at the very least exposes the K. However, is this always true? No, you still have to take advantage of that opportunity while it's around. For example, if you didn't play 3.Nxe5, but instead developed another piece, the opportunity is still there, but not much longer. And, if you don't take advantage of it, on time, you'll lose that advantage. This happened in my game against chicoboy, where he played the Domino, and I missed the opportunity. However, now if someone did that, I would immediately played 3.NXP By doing so, he was able to win this game. And, what if instead 1...e5, the opponent played 1...f6, well no one ever mentions it because it's not so easy. But, then you can still do damage with your Q, or take advantage of the weakness, but it's not nearly as easy. The idea is that, the Domino just isn't that good because it gives the opponent an advantage so you want to develop your pieces early, get the K to safety, and control the center. But, no advantages, however, are infinite because you have to take advantage of them while they're around. And, if not, you might find yourself at a disadvantage.

A perfect example was in this game. Now, I kept disagreeing about the Domino Defense because the idea was that you'd win a N. But, there was more to a story then meets the eye. That annotation is shown below. gameknot.com

But
A while later, I forgot about it, and chicoboy played this defense and won. Now, how did it happen. Well, I missed that opportunity to play 3.Nxe5 developed, and missed other opportunities. Which by doing so, that turned my advantages into disadvantages which allowed him to win. So, the moral is to develop things early, and all that. But, take advantage of your opportunities while they're around. Remember: Opportunites only last a short while so use it wisely because if not, you wind up throwing away your advanges. And, don't become overly confident just because you have an advantage as that's how you wind up in trouble.
