No I've never played it. used to play the Ruy Lopez, now mostly open d4 if I get the chance, or the caro-kann. Started off playing my own version of the four Knights as an absolute beginner, I now class myself a beginner. As black I like to play the king's Indian when I can.

The KG (King's Gambit)
Used to be all the craze during the Romantic Era of chess (mid-1800's), but advances in theory have shown that is far from an optimal opening for White, and with precise play Black is guaranteed a very solid game where White will be struggling to compensate for the extra pawn. Then about a century later, Bobby Fischer further depopularized it by publishing a well-known article in Chess Life with the title "A Bust to the King's Gambit". Personally, I would not recommend it for anything other than fun experiments in unrated or training games. The Sicilian Defense, The Ruy Lopez, The Reti, The English Opening, The Queen's Gambit are all very solid and still played today at the very top levels. Hope that helps!

One time, I did against reversion, and it was due to what tactical-abyss noted about it. He said that he played it, took his opponent off guard since he felt that it was dubious and won. In fact, I have an annotation on that game, and once I tried it on reversion, as a WTW mini tourney, I annotated that, as well.
