Copied and pasted from my Q sac thread:............................................................................................................................ So,would you like some thorns in those corn flakes of yours, instead of milk?Well thorns it is going to be...whether you want it or not, because TA is here! This game below is an example of theory, patterns and extreme patience. And it can be applied to your long corresp games as well...(technique,that is!) Nice med long game against an early 1800 rated player. He opened with a Caro-Kann.Little did he know my Q sac would involve him in a series of "looping pattern"center control tactics with repeater moves and "pinwheels" from around moves 18-26 and beyond. You can go back into the game with my PGN viewer and see for yourself,no need to annotate each move!If you will notice, you will see me using my Knight(s) in combination with my Bishop(s) to tactically accomplish repeater moves and "pinwheeling the center squares".This loss of tempo/delay/pinwheel technique has a psychological effect on my "victims".What it boils down to is a stall technique with repeater moves placing safe pressure on the center of the board and surrounding squares.Psychologically, many of my opponents minds get a bit bored, since they ALSO are FORCED to engage in some of the same moves in a repeat fashion to maintain their positional value and piece count value. So their minds tell them to be a bit more aggressive, with that "booty"of mine they still have of + value and they begin to move "outside the box"in more risky lines of aggression and counterattack my flanks or other areas out of this looping boredom of stale air...especially IF their clock time is down about a minute or more compared to mine. They have to take risky action soon...and why not? They are up a significant amount of piece count value! That kind of thinking is ok,but against a much stronger opponent like me,it would be like trying to take a drink of water out of a spaghetti strainer!!See,I have waited patiently for just that move or moves from my opponent while I have complete dominance of the central board control! From that position(especially if I place centralized Knights laying pressure on the center),this becomes my springboard to lay waste to my opponents forces as he thins his protective pieces away from the center in more aggressive style. You really have to see it,to understand my style...I cannot simply explain it for you to comprehend it!It is indeed a psychological nightmare for my "victim"as he slowly see's his pieces being whittled down and destroyed...and all his Q booty of mine begins to wash away in the acid rain.Of course,my "poisoned Bishop" under my opponents duress in the diagram below accelerates his doom and begins the landslide of his pieces encased in thorns down into the deepest parts of a bottomless abyss, except molten lava! That Bishop capture booty only resulted in my Ex-ray capture of his Q.(Move #32). So,yes, yes,I understand it is blitz not long GK correp.But,but,but,but......are you telling me in your mind that you cannot learn anything from my midgame(18-26) move tactics here? You would not only be wrong, you are dead wrong!!!Forget, the poisoned Bishop, yes, you may have seen that in a 3 day per move game, but you may not have realized(at your rating)the pinwheeling tactics that an opponent could use against you with the same psychological effects to "entice you"to become a bit more aggressive and take more risky moves when you voluntarily leave your safer haven of counter pressure on the central squares!Beginning to see the light now?Yes,no?Still stubborn with that nonsense that you would never have played like my opponent above if you had 3 days to make a move?Lets see...how many times have I heard that bad cliche?About 10,000 times that's what! And I have beaten many 1800-2100 players on 3 day per move games using the EXACT same techniques above!!!!So,you can fool others with that "escape clause way of thinking",but not TA!Observe and learn, even from fast 5 minute games! |
