Vote before the committee.
I hereby nominate Ed Norton to moderator status.

If nominated, I will not run.
If elected, I will not serve.

There needs to be at least one person who isn't a moderator so
the moderators have.....you know....
somebody to moderate.
_______

Metal Question.
What band do you guys consider the first metal band?

Cream and Jimi Hendrix were certainly crushing it, but they had
those nasty blues overtones.
The Who pretty much avoided ( not completely ) blues numbers.
I think The Who were early punk rockers.

What was there before Sabbath? Deep Purple? I don'tknow.

-10.

"Metal Question.

-I'd say Zeppelin

"The Who pretty much avoided ( not completely ) blues numbers.
I think The Who were early punk rockers. "

-I'm gonna have to agree with this but I'm sure there are counter-arguments.

"What was there before Sabbath? Deep Purple? "
-I fail to see/hear the significance of Sabbath. Deep Purple crushes them in the proverbial Pepsi challenge, IMHO. S_J out due to beer influence.

I'm looking for the first here. Not the best, Mr. Pepsi challenge

Anyway, I got the impression that Metal eschews the blues. Why I mentioned blues.

Zep stole more than a few blues numbers. Sabbath did not play the blues.

Zep robbed The Blues. I guess I'm going with The Kinks until I'm convinced otherwise with a reply at which point I'll go with Rage Against The Machine.

The Kinks!/? lol
early punkers.

Rod Stewarts and Ronnie Woods Faces were way heavier than the Kinks.
I'm going to bed.

btw. I saw The kInks. very fun, but not metal.
The Kinks are like the British version of Tom Petty.
How's that for a comparison?

By the way, Henny is not cool. He's fat & dumb too.

What about Queen?
There first couple albums were fairly metallic.

I will step down as moderator so ed can do the job. To be honest I don't know shit about metal. Never listen to it.

I listen to rock but I don't know if it would be considered metal.

Frank what do you think of bands like this? YOu can be honest its not like I wrote the music. This is more the style I like.

That imagine dragons tune.... mmm.
Makes me think.... a tepid bath and a brand new razor blade.

Really shouldn't blind link people to that.
A solid rope over the basement rafter is a much better alternative to listening.

Personal tastes do vary, but somebody tell me where rock ends and metal begins.

"but somebody tell me where rock ends and metal begins."

-I think that's constantly changing via the times. Ozzy & AC/DC were once considered metal and still are as far as I'm concerned (that's at least as heavy as I like) but they're safe and commercialized now. Hard to say, Ed. I only know what I like. Once a band goes mainstream and are featured in ads, I reckon they lose metal luster.

I'm not even sure if metal really exists anymore. Sure, a band can make their noise but so what? I think Janes Addiction summed it up best with their album title Nothing's Shocking.

My take: there is no metal. Not anymore. Closest thing IMHO was Rage Against The Machine. They were legit.
