![]() However 22. Bd2 was played, and awarded 3 points by Daniel King. He doesn't mention Bf4. He doesn't ward anything for anything else, merely saying the 22. b3 weakens the c3 square and that 22. Nxd4 would be premature. Well done Laura (penelope80) in selecting the right move! 22..... Rad8 was played in reply. What now. In passing, I would like to thank Ion (archduke_piccolo) and Simon (5imon) for posting the positions. |

![]() How about 23.b4 though, to try and get our bishop into the game? It's a bit stifled currently. |

![]() Black replied 23....Nf5. What now? |

|
![]() A simple move like a4 leads to nowhere The only Idea I found is the crazy Bg5 !?!? Threatens Bf6 and Black seems forced to accept the "gift" |

![]() 24.Bg5 hxg5 25.Nxg5 Qc8 (seems better than ...Qd7) 26.Rf4 h6 27.g4 ... Now, if 27...Ne7 28.e6 looks pretty strong. Black seems to get reasonable counter-play by 27...Ne3! 28.fxe3 dxe3 29.Qb1 e2+ 30.Kh2 ... But I still like White's active game. |

![]() 24. Bg5!! was played. Daniel King awards this mark 7 points. Black replied 24.....hxg5 now what? |

|
![]() It's got to be 25. Nxg5 next. |

![]() In my previous posting, I made an amendment to the heading, and forgot to add the missing words at the beginning of the posting. It looks as though I was criticising Elena's use of quotation marks. Actually that was not my intention; quite the opposite in fact. |

![]() and now, of course Nxg5 is the natural move |

![]() ... 27.g4. If 27...Ne3, then 28.fxe3 dxe3 29.Qb3 Or 27...Ne7 28.Qb3 (or possibly 28.e6) |

![]() I would play 28. Qg3 here with the no-so-subtle plan of shifting the queen on the h-file if allowed. If black plays 28...f6 to try and kick the knight then we have 29. Rxf6 Rxf6 30. exf6 and the attack continues. |

![]() After, say, Qd3, Black's king cannot defend g6, as White now controls Black's 7th rank on the kingside. That situation suggests Nf4 as a possible defence, but then what does Black do after Qe5? For example, Re8 leads to mate in 2. -+ |

![]() Black 28.....Kg7 now what? |
