![]() I am Joseph Belanger from Canada. I am recently divorced. I have three children and eight grandchildren. I owned my own business for 25 years in the commercial drywall and painting until the collapse of the global economy. After that I went back to college for three years and studied Computer Science. I was subsequently hired by the Government of Canada to participate in the creation of Canada's first online live election voting results reporting. I then spent 5 years working for the Information Technology Giants: Compaq, HP, and Dell. Due to illness, I am now retired and living on a disability pension. I am now a co-captain of The Knight's Templar International Chess Team |

![]() After high school, I served eight years active duty U.S. Army, including three years in Germany where my unit was deployed for five months to the Persian Gulf War in 1991. My team leader in Germany taught me chess. These days I am medically retired from the military. I live in a small NC town with a wife and our five cats. I have been playing on gameknot since 2004. Now, I am a proud member of The Knights Templar International Chess Team. |

I retired to live on the Sunshine Coast with my wife a few years ago after 30 years in the banking and finance industry, the final position being within the investment banking community (No, as a risk analyst, I did not cause the GFC!) I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren and enjoy travel, surfing, tennis, bushwalking and of course chess. I appreciate a lively discussion on any contemporary matter, keeping in mind the rules of engagement. |

![]() After a seven year gig in the USAF (starting just after the collapse of Saigon...I flew numbers of refugee evac flights from Guam to Hawaii to California as one of my first C-141 missions) I flew in the airlines for the next 36 years (just retired from American Airlines on the A320). I've played chess off and on my entire adult life, so I've figured out on my own how each and every chess mistake can be made. The beauty of the game, though, includes the fact that there is NO luck or chance involved (except of course which player gets the right to play as White). The rules are understood by both players and you either win or you lose or you draw. |

![]() I am Jouni from Finland, age 36. I work as an IT consultant with a master degree in mathematics. Currently I can't play chess as much as I might like and I don't see that changing in any near future, since there are also a lot of other things I have no time to do as much as I'd like. I played and practiced chess a lot as my late teen years and some in my early 20s. On some years I was also part of my club team in the 2nd and 3rd level of Finnish national league and participated team blitz championships every year. Without any coaching I was unable to take leaps in my development and got stuck in national rating of some 1950. My best wins in tournaments were a few 2100-2200 players. With little or no signs of improvement I got bored and quit playing completely as a sudden decision, including abandoning my GK account and resulting all my games at the time to time out. After that I didn't play a single game of chess in some eight years, excluding a few blitzes at work against low level opponents. I got a new sparkle three years ago in Facebook where I played some games, then logged back to my old GK account and started playing again. I also started playing some online blitz, but quit that again last year. I haven't returned to live chess yet, but have thought about participating some tournament. |
