As well as this, I felt like GK lacked a home for *serious* conservative thought. My comments here are not meant necessarly as an indictment about any other particular club here at GK per se, merely my impressions. I want to have a place where conservative ideas and thoughts can be discussed and taken serious. Too much and too often these days "conservatism" hass been associated with 1) lack of intellectual gravitas (in fact eschewing of anything intellectual in general) and 2) the worst kind of assumptions related to such accusations of bigotry, racism, islamphobia, homophobia, and misogeny (to name a few). And to be fair, I don't think conservatism was defended well, and was often presented extremely poorly and in a tone-deaf manner. The embracing of certain "conspiracy theories" has also been rather unhelpful in conservative thought being taken very seriously. There has been frightening little in the way of intellecualism coming from conservatism. End quote. The lord of darkness will be out of office in three months, Inshallah. So this club's rise and fall matches his. I think conservatism has many good points, all largely destroyed by the current Oval Office occupant.
proginoskes 17-Oct-20, 16:11	I mean it’s only $20 bucks for the year. I can afford it. I just don’t see this forum get used much. And like I said some of this is on me as I’ve lacked a lot of time to cultivate it. Basically any “conservative” who shows up here though seems to insist on being a jerk. And some of you have given that right back. There are few workout sun here. But I don’t want to dwell on who is wrong or most wrong but rather it seems even trying not to fail this place failed to have the kind of discourse between those identifying as conservative and those as liberal (as used colloquially in modern day political parlance).
