![]() No gray area there! I suspect good people do good and bad things, and bad people sometimes do good things. And I suspect people change as well - from mostly bad to mostly good and vice-versa. People are much more complex, I think, than your two sentences suggest. And I would posit that a mostly bad person who becomes a Christian will become a mostly good person through his or heart being changed by the indwelling of God's Holy Spirit. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23) |

![]() Is this the only instance where Islam teaches that violence is acceptable? How do you explain the criminal penalties in sharia law, which is the law of Islam? <whereas Christianity says turn the other cheek.> Christ did indeed say this, though it's worth noting His example of being smitten on the cheek, taken literally, could be viewed as a relatively minor act of aggression. If it were interpreted as applying to all physical attacks against one's own person, how to reconcile it with Paul's instruction in Romans? "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." (Romans 12:18) Regardless, the "turn the other cheek" verse speaks solely of defense against one's own person - not defense against one's spouse, children or friends. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13) But it's really a moot point anyway because Christians who are regularly in The Word and prayer will be led by God's Holy Spirit in how to respond. And God is always in control. Antoinette Tuff, a school administrator in Georgia who prevented a mass shooting at an elementary school four years ago, is a perfect example of God at work and in overcoming evil with good. "I was screaming and terrified on the inside. I didn't even know I was calm until everybody kept saying that. And so what I did is I went back to listen to the 911 tape to see exactly what I was saying and how calm I was. And to be honest with you, I didn't even recognize my own voice. And so I knew at that moment that it was God that guided me through that day. All of us have a purpose in our life. And so God prepares us all for one. That day was very important for me that every word that proceeded out of my mouth at that point in time could be life or death, not only for me and Michael Hill [the gunman], but for everyone in that building. And so I knew that that was the moment that I had to make sure that everything that I heard God say to me, was what I came out of my mouth with." www.npr.org <I respect Islam more for that as it fits my personal credo.> Seems odd to base your view of a religion on your reaction to this one area, but whatever floats your boat. I would base my view of a religion on whether it is true. <It also means most Christians are hypocrites since very defer professed Christians believe in self defense against Christ's teachings.y> See above. |

![]() I suppose it depends on what he's taught. If he's taught jihad against infidels, he'll probably end up a worse person and possibly a murderer. Fortunately, many Muslims are converting to Christianity at great personal risk due to brave missionaries doing God's work by (sometimes covertly) teaching the Gospel in Muslim countries. |

![]() We're told that those Muslims don't represent "true Islam," but on what authority is that claim made? We're told to "ask a Muslim" if we want to know what Islam is about, as if we were to hop a plane to the Middle East every Muslim would agree. It's always intrigued me that the biggest Muslim apologists I've encountered are atheists. And they tend to base their views on Islam by saying, "Well I lived next door to a Muslim once and he couldn't have been a nicer guy!" |

That was the whole pretense upon which she started talking to me. She said she wanted to learn more english. However, it had to be kept secret from her family and friends that she was talking to me. Furthermore, Taqiya is actually a real doctrine of Islam en.wikipedia.org |

![]() But you won't hear a single atheist and feminist on here condemn them. "The so-called honor killing a few days ago of Qandeel Baloch, a young Muslim woman considered Pakistan’s Kim Kardashian, reveals the fact of the matter: The seed of terrorism begins at home in the Islamic world, where “honor killings” are allowed when a female in the household is perceived as having dishonored the family. This could include having an unapproved relationship, dressing in a way that upsets the men in the house, or simply not being “respectful” enough. Qandeel was 26 years old, and was on her way to international fame. A ubiquitous presence on social media, she considered herself a feminist and challenged the status quo. Last weekend her brother drugged her and strangled her to death as she slept. He was captured and confessed during a press conference, saying he did it because “she brought dishonor on the family name,” and “girls are born to stay at home.” Most families have differences, and those disagreements are met with discussions and even arguments. But in the Islamic world controlled by Shariah law, the killing of the woman is allowed as an act to reclaim the family’s honor." m.washingtontimes.com We had an attempted honor killing in the town I used to live in - some nut poured gasoline on his wife and tried to burn her alive. |
