You giving examles in your own words would be fine with me. I trust you. My point is that if American learned institutions don't allow free exercise of opposing ideas, then something is wrong. And I mean VERY wrong! And very alarming, too, which is why it would be so important to openly demonstrate examples.

Shall I suggest Could you name high level scientists (in any field) who have learned all that they know on internet ? The scientific community is full of debates, hold by people who argument and counter argument such or such theories. Most of them are university teachers. Obviously, those arguments have to be based on scientific method. It's perfectly allowed to refute Darwin if your arguments are scientific ones, not biblical ones  , for they belong to another sphere than knowledge.

Of course, there are such isolated incidences. One right here in my own university! But generally, this is not typical of universities - on the contrary!

The article also stated that students are now trending more liberal and do not tolerate political dogma much further right than mid right. Yes: There are Universities that have established rules of engagement for speeches, rallies and public talk-talk on campus.

It reinforces my analyse that the gap between Dems and Trump's voters in the US is a social one : the higher educated people against the rest. It's bad news because it means that the gap is deepening.

stalhandske 22-Aug-19, 05:52	Zorro It's just frustrating to first give a strong statement of quite a serious issue, and then just fail to provide even just a little evidence for it. I guess I haven't yet learned to just ignore.
