I had a somewhat similar encounter with ATC at Lindberg field one night when I was trying to finish up a student pilot so he could take his Private Pilot test. It was my policy to NOT recommend any student for the test until we had done, at least, one full stop landing and takeoff at a busy, "big" airplane airport (Lindberg for us).

It was very shortly after they had implemented the new terminal requirements and equipment requirements for airports, after the Cessna and PSA crash here (at Lindberg in San Diego). You needed a transponder and a clearance to enter the airport traffic area and land or take off.

The trainer aircraft we had been using had an inoperative transponder and Nugg (the flight school owner) was taking forever to get it fixed. My student wanted to finish up and so I finally said: "OK, the rules say that we can ask for permission to enter and land and ATC can allow it, even if we don't have a transponder"

So that's what we did. And, ATC allowed us to enter and land.

After landing I had the student ask the controller for taxi back to the runway for takeoff back to Montgomery field.

The controller said "Roger Cessna N12345, taxi to Runway 27, squawk code 4321."
The controller knew perfectly well that our transponder was inoperative, but the student had to admit, once again, that it was inop.

The controller came on, over the mike, with "You can ask to be let in, and we can let you in. But, the rules say you need to have a functioning transponder to fly in the Airport Traffic Area. And we don't need to let you out. I'll see if we can work something out".

He let us sit in the runup area for about 15 or 20 minutes (expensive time wasted) before he finally cleared us for takeoff and return to Montgomery. And, in that time, he had called and talked to Nugg because when we got back, Nugg had a little chat with me.

For my friends x
Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"

He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"

He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"

Northern Conservative†Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.

That joke, which I’ve read numerous times, neglects that Christians are *all* children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Some Christians love to argue about non-salvific doctrines that really aren’t important.

The Apostle Paul, who wrote most of the New Testament, summed it up well when he wrote…

“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

(Galatians 3:24-28)

If you believe in Jesus Christ, you’re in the family of God. But like most earthly families, I assume pointless arguing is a given.

Hey Vic
<<There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus>>

One of my favourite passages, too (for numerous reasons). In fact, I think we've discussed it before!

And also one of my favourite jokes (along with the one about the dude in the flood), sorry you've heard it before. I think it serves as a gentle admonishment to those who would quibble over insignificant differences, such as whether we should allow gay priests.

Here, you might like this one, from the same comic:

When I was a kid my dad would say, "Emo, do you believe in the Lord?" I'd say, "Yes!" He'd say, "Then stand up and shout Hallelujah!" So I would ... and I'd fall out of the roller coaster

The one about the flood is good too. I think I know what you’re talking about – the guy on the rooftop pleading to God to rescue him, but he waves off all the help from humans that God provides because he’s waiting for God.

Classic.

As far as my disputes in the past with valley_forge, I’m done trying to convince him of anything.

Hi Vic
That's the one   Aye, it's funny, and also very deep. I like it like that!

<<As far as my disputes in the past with valley_forge, I’m done trying to convince him of anything>>

that's ok dude, you don't have to convince him of anything. You know what's in your heart, right?

And "Forgive, as the Lord forgave you."

Easy for me to say, I know, I've missed the pagga, and I don't know what's been said. But I mean it sincerely, mate

Hi Steve
Appreciate your post. And I have forgiven him. I just have zero interest in interacting with him.

I won’t rehash the reasons why, but it’s not because we disagree on the Bible. I’ve had plenty of respectful disagreements with people on a lot of subjects. Very rarely with him.

As far as the disagreements themselves, I think people should go to the Bible to learn the way of salvation; whether salvation is conditional; and whether unconditional election (Calvinism) is Biblical. Many people will perish in eternal condemnation because they’re relying on commandment keeping and works to justify themselves before God and have rejected Jesus Christ as their Saviour. And that’s because they’re listening to men and not God.

I only bring it up because I think the vast majority of people, including a lot of self-identified Christians, think commandment keeping and works merit Heaven, the so-called “more good than bad” standard. They oughta at least read the Gospels and Acts, but most won’t. At the very least, they oughta pray to God to reveal the truth to them. Again, most imo won’t.

Because like many pro western opposition in Russia he took money from the West. His videos about so called Putin's palace were edited in Germany. His wife is living in the west now for the western money. Just think about it a guy who clearly wants to make a coup in Russia is taking money from western countries. Nothing suspicious right ? ) What would Americans do with such guy on their soil ? Same story here. So i don't claim it was CIA , MI6 more likely still yes there are strong suggestions he was western agent with a task to destabilize Russia.
