 FWIW, I too hadn’t heard about the Rapture until a couple of years ago, but I didn’t ascribe that to the strength or weakness of the doctrine - I ascribed it to my ignorance of the Bible and that churches I attended didn’t teach on it. But churches I attended also didn’t teach on the Tribulation, Jesus Christ’s Second Coming or any of the End Times’ events prophesied in the Bible. I also think much of Biblical prophecy is revelatory and is not “gotten” or understood all at once. You also cited Wikipedia when I’d already shown Wikipedia is not a credible source on this subject. But the bottom line for me is that the Rapture is in the Bible, and people who deny it ought to offer an alternative interpretation of passages associated with the Rapture. Otherwise, it’s just pointless arguing. |

Many churches for whatever reason avoid teaching about the End Times. Bible prophecy, in my experience, is also revelatory in God’s timing. I missed passages about the Rapture even after handwriting the Bible. Did I become enlightened later in God’s timing? I think so. Feel free to believe whatever you will and speak your mind on it. But I’m not going to debate the veracity of the Rapture until someone offers an alternative interpretation of 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-55 (for starters.) And should that happen, I’m unlikely to respond to the alternative interpretation(s) until after Christmas. |

It is you who seemed to be geared at dispute. I am not. I was not disputing the veracity of the Rapture, only describing how I came to learn about it (and how that did not happen earlier). I actually quoted Thessalonians, too, as one of the sources I learned about - from the Swedish Wikipedia page. We also discussed the dependabolity of Wikipedia, and I did not find anything in the Swedish version about Rapture that would differ from what you have presented. |

Could I be wrong? Of course. If the Rapture does not take place this year, does that mean the Rapture is a false doctrine? Of course not! It just means the Rapture didn’t take place in 2023. But it’s interesting how so many Bible prophecies and events in the “real world” seem to line up for the Rapture taking place in 2023. She had a good line referring to scoffers. “Remember Noah was a conspiracy theorist. And then it rained.” The guy who spoke after her shared Rapture-related dreams that believers had, but I honestly don’t put too much stock in dreams. Maybe ‘cause I’ve never had one lol And the final guy who spoke talked about how to get saved but included baptism. I don’t think baptism is necessary to be saved based on the salvation verses on my profile page, but the video cut out before he spoke about baptism. FWIW, the lady who spoke before him gave the way to salvation that I believe (as found in the Bible verses on my profile page.) I think the most pertinent and interesting points of the overall video were in that pinned post I copy-and-pasted above the link to the video. If the Rapture doesn’t happen in 2023, I’ll be convinced the timing can’t be predicted. I’ll still believe the pre-Tribulation Rapture is a truthful doctrine, but I’ll no longer believe the timing can be predicted because too many prophecies and “real world” events seem to be pointing to 2023. |

It just means it didn’t happen in 2023. • The claim the Rapture could have happened at any time in the preceding nearly 2,000 years is nonsense. The regathering of the Jews was one of the signs that would precede the Rapture and the Jews were scattered for 1,878 years after the Romans destroyed their Temple in 70 A.D. The Jews only became regathered as a nation in 1948. • Technology to enable the “Mark of the Beast” that people would need to buy and sell came to fruition only recently. • Technology that would enable the world to witness in real time the resurrection of the two witnesses during the Tribulation also came to fruition only recently. • Israel being involved in a war and widespread anti-Semitism in the world also wasn’t taking place at any time in the previous nearly 2,000 years. All of this was mentioned in videos I’ve posted in this thread (which obviously weren’t watched,) but technological points to consider when someone claims the Rapture could have taken place at any time in the past nearly 2,000 years… <<So, where does Bible Prophecy tie into this explosion of technology? It is not only in the ability of the world to look upon the two witnesses lying in the streets of Jerusalem. I mention that because a lot of “watchers” on YouTube (and not all of them are in this video) are in agreement that the time before the Rapture is extremely short. No one set a date but the impression they’re giving is days - not weeks - away. This video is a compilation of some of the watchers and what they’re saying. If the Rapture doesn’t happen this year, I won’t stop believing it’s a truthful future event - I’ll just no longer believe the timing can be predicted. Would be interesting to know how many people were predicting the Rapture in 1988. I don’t think the Internet was around back then so it probably can’t be known. Hindsight’s 20/20, but it’s hard to see how they justified it given the lack of technology and lack of signs of the approaching Tribulation which seem prevalent today. Anyway, here’s the video. But they still won’t offer an alternative interpretation of verses commonly associated with the Rapture, such as 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:50-55, and John 14:1-3. (There are many more.) Nor do they acknowledge the Bible doesn’t give a specific date or timeframe for the Rapture - only a season based on signs in Heaven and earth. And those signs are evident so the Rapture is at the door. But the Gang of Four is comprised of Christ deniers and won’t be going anyway. |

But the Rapture not taking place in 2023 doesn’t discredit the Rapture. It discredits the Berisheet Passover prophecy. I don’t know how anyone can deny that all of the End Times signs preceding the Tribulation, including a war involving Israel, technology supporting the Mark of the Beast and ability for the world to witness the resurrection of the two witnesses, natural disasters and pestilences, wars involving other kingdoms, signs in the heavens, etc., are all here. Makes no difference to me that the Rapture didn’t happen in 2023. God is not a slave to dates. The Rapture will happen and will happen in the near future. It’s prophesied in the Bible, which has been right about everything else. |

Handwrote Isaiah 13 today, and these verses, written around 700 B.C., sound a lot like the Great Tribulation… “Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. And at the end of the video posted at 16:03, the narrator amends what he said at the beginning by saying “everyone who comes to a saving faith in Christ” will be Raptured. He got it right the second time, imo. Anyway, this is a good article that addresses the question of who is Raptured… <<QUESTION How can I be sure I won’t be left behind in the rapture? ANSWER The series of Left Behind novels and movies has prompted a lot of questions from a lot of people: is the rapture for real? (Answer: yes.) Will the rapture be followed by a time of divine judgment on earth? (Answer: yes.) Will I be left behind in the rapture? (Answer: that depends.) The rapture is what we call the event in which Jesus comes again to take believers out of this world. The Bible calls it a “catching away” (1 Thessalonians 4:17) and describes it as an instantaneous “change” of the body that bypasses death (1 Corinthians 15:51–52). Those raptured “will be with the Lord forever” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). Believers in Jesus Christ are taken in the rapture; unbelievers will be left behind when the rapture occurs. Those left behind in the rapture will face a quickly changing world—and the change will not be for the better. Second Thessalonians 2:11 says that the “power of lawlessness” is currently being held in check by the Holy Spirit. 1) The Bible doesn’t give a day, week, month or year for the Rapture. The Bible does give signs preceding the Tribulation, and the Tribulation, in my view, follows the Rapture. 2) The technology to support prophesied events in the Tribulation - ability of the world to see in real time the resurrection of the two witnesses, and ability for people to receive the “mark of the beast” that will enable them to buy and sell (and to prevent those without it from buying and selling) - only recently came to fruition. Lastly, we’re still in 2023 on the Julian calendar, which was the calendar in use when the New Testament was written. Jan. 1 on the Julian calendar doesn’t arrive until Jan. 14 on the Gregorian calendar, which the United States adopted in 1752. |
