Good points, Robert. And my apologies for responding in less than a gracious manner that I could have!

My wife and I have commented on the need for a “no soliciting” sign for a longer time than it took for finally getting one put up. Our quiet neighborhood does not get much vehicle or foot traffic being in a cul-de-sac as we are. Still the JW and the oocasional LDS members are annoying more for the fact that they’re programmed to not really discuss weaknesses in their religious faith so interacting with that intention takes REAL EFFORT in preparation and then stopping what we’re doing to share truth with them.

Those attempting to garner more business is annoying as well, naturally.
When I seen the poignat sign my wife found I thought - Cool!

A no trespassing sign and a beware of bad dog is also good, and I appreciate the thoughts for me, really.

<<"When I was born, I cried and people smiled. When I die, people will cry and I will smile">>

That’s a great quote. Do you know who said it?

The quote "When you were born you were crying and the world rejoiced. When you die the world will cry and you will rejoice" is commonly attributed to a Cherokee proverb.
While the sentiment is widely circulated, it is often mistakenly credited to Ralph Waldo Emerson or Jordan Smith.

Vic
I wasn't sure who said it. So I did an AI search... Which came back with

The quote "When I was born, I cried and people smiled. When I die, people will cry and I will smile" is often attributed to Nelson Mandela, though there is some uncertainty about its exact origin. It aligns closely with variations attributed both to Nelson Mandela and to Rabindranath Tagore. For instance, a similar quote by Tagore states, "When you came you cried and everybody smiled with joy; when you go smile and let the world cry for you" and Mandela is credited with a close version as well.

So I am under the impression that someone unknown said it and it got passed along by word of mouth. But that is supposition.

I really like the quote also

@apatzer
Thanks for that info. It is a great quote. Funerals of believers seem in some ways paradoxical because we feel sad while the believer who passed is with God and in eternal bliss. I think the sadness comes from our missing them (until we too pass) and regrets over mistakes we made in our relationships with them.
