![]() This is a sobering look at the incompetence, indifference, ineffective, and confused, American government in almost all areas during the Biden reign. It is embarrassing and dangerous in the extreme. And it led to the Hamas War, the Ukraine War, Hootsie attacks, and Iranian aggression as well as increased tensions with China and North Korea. In my opinion those "leaders" should be in jail, except you can't put somebody in jail for being so stupid as to make those kinds of mistakes. www.msn.com |

![]() CIA Failure in Afghanistan The CIA's involvement in Afghanistan, particularly through operations like Operation Cyclone, showcased significant interference and support for various factions, but ultimately contributed to the failure of American nation-building efforts. Operation Cyclone, which ran from 1979 to 1992, was a covert CIA program aimed at arming and financing the Afghan mujahideen to counter Soviet influence in the region. Despite the extensive support provided, the project faced numerous challenges, including the complex dynamics of Afghan society, the failure to create an uncontested domain of authority, and the difficulty in legitimizing a secular order in a deeply religious society. The rapid disintegration of the Afghan government in August 2021, following two decades of U.S.-led coalition efforts, highlighted the failure of these nation-building endeavors. The government, established and maintained at a cost of $143 billion, collapsed in less than two weeks, with the Taliban reclaiming power. This collapse underscores the inherent difficulties in building a modern national state in a country that had never experienced such a transition. The CIA's historical interference in Afghanistan, including covert actions and support for militant Islamic groups, created a complex legacy that hindered the establishment of a stable, centralized government. The failure to address traditional sources of authority and the propagation of religious beliefs that questioned the legitimacy of the government further complicated the state-building process. In summary, while the CIA's operations provided critical support and intelligence, they also contributed to the instability and challenges faced in Afghanistan, ultimately leading to the failure of American nation-building efforts.
