Rebranding efforts and 'The Hard Sell'
www.youtube.com 11:16

What's the motivation here? Hostility to traditional American country culture and values perhaps? It's not the policies that are the problem they insist, it's just that they haven't found the right 'messaging' yet.

I like that Laura's show is called "The Angle" very fitting. The real key for Cracker Barrel to draw customers. Would be to serve better food. Thier food has gone so far down hill, because of cost savings bean counting mentality. That it's garbage half the time. The same exact thing happened to Bob Evans.

You literally could paint a building hot pink and name it peewees playhouse and if it had top quality food prepared by professionals in the culinary world. You would soon have to reserve a set to eat there

But I understand this is the culture war against woke nonsense, so I'll now bow out .. as you were soldiers.

BTW, Honest question here.... I hear the term "Woke" a lot. In your own words please. What does that even mean? And why are others pushing it , while others are fighting against it?

I guess I'm just out of touch.

AI Knows . . . / @ Apatzer
The term "woke" is used by many conservative Christians in a pejorative sense to describe a perceived left-leaning ideology that emphasizes identity politics, systemic injustice, and social activism, particularly around race, gender, and sexuality.
It is often associated with what they see as an excessive focus on grievance culture and a belief that white supremacy is the primary motivating factor in society.
Conservative Christians may define "woke" as a worldview that reduces individuals to their identity groups—such as race, gender, or sexual orientation—rather than seeing them as individuals.
This perspective is sometimes linked to critiques of critical theory, cultural Marxism, or the influence of postmodern thought.

For some conservative Christians, being "woke" is seen as incompatible with traditional values, and they may view the term as a tool to discredit progressive social movements or policies they oppose.
They often argue that the term has evolved from its original meaning of being aware of social injustices to a label used to criticize those who advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives or who support progressive social causes.
Some conservative Christians also perceive "wokeness" as performative, self-righteous, or driven by a desire for social prestige rather than genuine concern for justice

P S: I agree you completely about the quality (of lack of it) at the CB!

Same for Kentucky Fried Chicken - gag me with a fork!

That's how it's done... incrementally. Three steps forward and one step back. It use to be three steps forward and two steps back but they're getting desperate. The strategy is to change three unbroken things that the vast majority of people want into what people don't want. Then magnanimously and with much fanfare change one thing back while quietly keeping the other two unwanted changes. "OK, we'll change the logo back."

For Cracker Barrel, they changed their corporate focus from merit to DEI, reduced the food quality while increasing cost (which drove customers away). Worse food for morre money? The expected reduced sales gave the new woke corporate culture the excuse they needed to implement the pre-planned re-brand in order to 'reinvigorate interest' in their product. All because of the damage they caused.

They've wanted to strip the 'triggering' interior decor of the much beloved Americana Cracker Barrel is known for and replace it with a new sanitized and sterile fast food ambience and then changed their iconic logo with a cheap and generic AI generated one.

There's an old saying, "If it ain't' broke don't fix it".

Thanks guys
I appreciate the effort VF, the reason why I asked the question (with the caveat "explain in your own words") is because I wanted to know what you think of it and what you think woke is. I could have asked AI myself. But I would much rather have a human nuanced opinion. But I know that's asking a lot and we don't always have the time.
