Finally some good news...........Finally
For the first time in History Astronomers here on Earth, have photographed an Exo-Planet orbiting another Star. Taken by the VLT TELESCOPE IN Chile. Using a coronagraph to block out the Stars bright light, they took this photo.;apod.nasa.gov It's just a matter of time and Technology before we can see surface features on oxo Planets. Maybe even a Habitable Planet.

That is amazing. I'm guessing it's a hot Jupiter.

What an amazing shot! I can recall in my teens that everyone 'knew' that we would never be able to even detect an exoplanet. To photograph one wasn't even sci-fi; it was fantasy. I'm hoping for a Long Baseline Interferometer to be put into solar orbit some day before I die. One with enough resolution and light-gathering power to take a detailed spectrograph of an exoplanet, checking for molecular oxygen and perhaps even chlorophyl.

Spaced Based Interferometer
The TPF was a NASA project (long since cancelled) 5hat would have placed an optical interferometer in space capable of resolving surface features of Earth sized exoplanets. [Pauses significant minutes just to salivate].
