Welcome!
Please read the Club Rules carefully. I intend to operate by them, both in requiring civility and in ensuring due process in dealing with complaints.

Rules... I was happy to note the absence of rules restricting quotations or the use of Cyrillic characters. Although I was puzzled by the creation date of the club... gameknot.com

That was done way back when I first learned that Stahl was not immortal. I set up the club as a bolthole in case Fiat Lux died with him, without warning. I just held off paying the club fee that would have activated it. As it turned out, most Fiat Lux members went over to Red's Fresh Chess Club, so the shell club stayed that way until the need to replace THINK.

We’ve lost at least three pretty longstanding clubs recently between FAC, Think and Shirley’s club.

Welcome to the club Andrew. I'm glad you are here.

Welcome to the club LS, I am glad you are here. In fact I'm glad everyone that is here is here. I'm not trying to leave anyone out.
|
|
Thanks, Robert. Good to be here.

This should be a worthwhile club alternative. Welcome all.

CHRIST OUR REDEEMER
Whatever happened there? I am applying for membership but Shirley is ignoring the request.
|
|
Are you sure that club’s still active? My understanding was it closed.
|
|
Inactive
I haven’t seen any message, it still says “applying,” though I notice the last messages are now nigh on two months old.

It's past its renewal date and Shirley has been very ill for a long time. I suspect we are one saint less in this world.
|
|
I had also been wondering what had happened to the Christ our Redeemer club. I've just been directed to this one by lord-shiva, earlier today.

Warmest Welcome
is extended to Colin the Poet, who has most remarkably visited Skara Brae!

It's not that remarkable when you consider that I live in the same country (by which I mean UK rather than Scotland), and have a long-standing interest in ancient history and associated mysteries. I've also seen some of the mesolithic remains in SW England, and on Malta and in Brittany.

Thanks for possibly saving my life back in June 2019 --- I and many others really appreciated that. And thanks for that fun board game too.

Your club closure question If your referring to the THINK Club, the founder decided to close it.
|
|
@mo-oneandmore
Why? What was the founder THINKing?

Because it was too much work for an 80 year old man. After that: My lady friend and I have bought a house in Sun City, Arizona and we will be moving there to spend the rest of our lives as soon as we sell our housed and most of the worldly goods that we have accumulated --- It is, in deed, a 60 mile per minute activity to get it all done. Rated among the best retirement communities in America. suncityaz.org

Your Why did I shut-down THINK Club question, Because I was tired of it and it was too much work for an 80 year old man. After that: My lady friend and I have bought a house in Sun City, Arizona and we will be moving there to spend the rest of our lives as soon as we sell our two houses and most of the worldly goods that we have accumulated --- It is, in deed, a 60 mile per minute activity to get it all done. Sun City is ranked among the best retirement communities in America; so if you've got the bucks, it's the place to go. suncityaz.org

<<Sun City is ranked among the best retirement communities in America; so if you've got the bucks, it's the place to go.>> Sounds like a great place. How long can I stay with you and your lady friend? I assume you’ll have a spare room and big fridge? I like a firm mattress so if you haven’t bought one for the spare room yet, please keep that in mind.

It's a two bedroom 2 bath The extra B & B was added specifically for visitation --- I've discussed the matter w/lord-shiva (He once hosted me in Spokane), I would be happy to host Stahl if he was still alive, Zorro, Bob and Brig would be on my list and I certainly welcome my twin brother and my sister; but I haven't yet considered y'all. Note: Selection of a specific mattress firmness will NOT be an option and your firery fire-and -brimstone brand of bible study will not be allowed unless your willing to consider MY messages about God the Father.

<< Thanks for possibly saving my life back in June 2019>> Aw, you would have done the same for me. I just wish I had worn better PPE when I went to visit you in the hospital. Very glad you recovered and made it back all right!

<< Note: Selection of a specific mattress firmness will NOT be an option and your firery fire-and -brimstone brand of bible study will not be allowed unless your willing to consider MY messages about God the Father.>> I’m fine just rolling a bag out on the floor. I’m used to sleeping on rocks where I like to travel, out under the stars. My wife would require a reclining chair, however. We will wait until you are settled in. But I don’t HAVE to sleep on the floor—just wherever is most convenient. On the floor you don’t have to wash sheets. I do require a pillow—but I’ve made do with a bag of clothes in a pinch.

Yea. When I was in anchorage for the week before I came to Spokane, I was coughing-up blood, but I was released from the hospital there with antibodies so I could participate in the games (had to drop-out of swimming to get out of the hospital) --- My pickleball partner was far sicker than me, and told me later that he was sick as a dog for 15 days after he returned to WV but that he didn't go to emergency. Covid was not yet a pandemic, but there were at-least a dozen cruse ships that went in out while I was there and some of the ships were quite likely from Wuhan, China (See Wuhan flu from trump). trump was screaming "just like the flu" at the time and even disallowed entry of a cruise ship into America a couple months later because there were 30 or Americans aboard with Covid. When I returned to WV, I asked my Dr's if my partner and I might have been the first Americans to carry covid into the lower 48, but they all said "no possible way in hell to tell".

Covid
The common symptoms were loss of taste and smell in the early variant, which was an ass kicker. My son-in-law was knocked for a loop, and all the rest of the family caught it (except my wife), but fortunately all pulled through absent long term disabilitating effects. I never did get it but my wife tested positive for a mild case, after multiple vaccinations. She was over it quick with no lasting effect, but I lost several friends, and had a very close call with one who ended up in an IC ventilator for several weeks. The Wuhan was reported after you left, so I suspect you didn’t have it. But your doctors are right, impossible to tell now. Even if I have antibodies it would be next to impossible to tell if I had gotten it from you or became an asymptomatic carrier from my wife’s infection. I have never tested positive, though every time I’ve fallen ill I tested.
