All African slaves were supposed to be set free after American civil war with POTUS Lincoln's 13th Amendment "Emancipation Proclamation" but still Texas who was ruled by white supremacists led by Democrats at that time continued to keep slaves. Northen Union states troops crushed southern Federal states troops in civil war. Over 2 years had passed when Lincoln was assassinated, but still slavery persisted in Texas. Since slavery could not be tolerated anymore, the winner of the civil war, now the government of the USA sent General Granger to Galveston, Texas and threatened with force to free the slaves. Since the confederate troops were disbanded after civil war, Texas could not resist against Gen Granger's demand and had to set free the last remaining 250,000 African slaves. Now free African slaves can celebrate since then and Juneteenth day was born. Joe Biden signed into law that Juneteenth will be a federal holiday. My point is that Republicans were instrumental in freeing the slaves from white supremacists led by Democrats.
