An interesting analysis.

I'm on record as saying that the Dems have abandoned their core, the rank-and-file worker. They have tended to promote what I call 'boutique' issues; matters that are worthy in themselves, but shouldn't be seen as matters in themselves. Gay Rights should not be seen as advocating for homosexuals, but as one thread in personal freedoms; environmental matters should be folded into a wider push for anti-pollution and elimination of health hazards, better wages for the lowest-paid needs to be welded onto a desire to reduce the need for 'government handouts'; DEI needs to be part of a wider programme to 'get the most productivity out of our greatest untapped resource'. etc.

The emphasis needs to be on showing what a 'whole of government' approach means when applied to a 'whole of life' vision.

A shift in mindset and terminology is needed. Just today I was listening to a radio show where the pundant speaking was talking about working people and winning their vote. I can understand this type of sentiment however the terminology is all wrong. You need to earn YES earn thier vote. Moreover you need to communicate; that is the intention. I.E. we are going to pledge to you... (...) That we are going to do the hard work of earning your vote and also earning your trust and when we have accomplished that +by doing it together)

We intended to do the work to keep it by tackling the matters that are most important to you head on.

In your article it said .. ...

"Politics doesn’t occupy much of their attention, in part because they probably didn’t graduate from college."

That may be true however that is far from the whole story. People do not have the time or energy because most people are less than 5 paychecks away from being homeless. Moreover those who do take a peak or engage are further dissuaded by the negative and nasty nature of politics in general. Therefore when you bring the joy back, you are going to have to work twice as hard to keep it.

Happy cows give good milk!

We the working consumer tend to look for the following, Effort VS return, trading time or money for results.

A strong focus on community and "my neighbor " needs to be implemented. Also voters should be given a number they can call to talk to an actual human who will listen to issues and take notes. That can be added to a database to be interpreted by professionals with the help of AI. All information (after you filter out the junk or the crazy) could be used for projection and better targeting.

Holding local meetings through volunteers would also help.

An attitude of ... If I were the voter.

A I should be used to bolster current app technology that volunteers use when door to door knocking. As the Mini Van app, currently has some frustrating issues. Also a strong support network for volunteers is also needed.

Also perception VS reality really needs to be defined and used. Trump is big on perception and some people believe what they think their perception is, over and above actual reality.

Happy Chickens
Washington now has similar rules in place regarding hens.

As I read this article I wondered about slaves. The rules prevent people from buying or selling humans, a product that used to be in great demand.

I also wonder about raw milk. I don’t drink the stuff, but it has other uses. I would like to be able to buy it for making sourdough bread. A friend of mine drinks the raw milk because he likes the taste. Russian roulette.

Medical Prescriptions
Trump worked to reduce insulin costs implementing a voluntary program that had no real impact on the small group they targeted. Then he claimed credit for the work of Biden and Harris making significant reductions on a large group of drugs needed by everyone on Medicare—granting the right of the government to negotiate prices that had been denied by the Bush administration.

So government does accomplish things of measurable benefit to people, besides just politically connected billionaires. Government granted enormous tax breaks to golf course owners, and to businesses that own jets and yachts used by executive officers. Worthy actions of benefit to real Americans, not to nasty, dirty working stiffs or wage earners. Tax breaks belong to those whose incomes derive from investments, hence the need to eliminate capital gains so our beloved rich can get so much richer.

It used to be CEOs earned twenty times what the average worker in their industry earned. Now that difference has risen to the point a CEO makes in a single day their average employee’s annual salary, MAGA. Republicans remain almost single-mindedly focused on magnifying this disparity.

Big Ugly Bill
JD Vance posted today how the minutiae of 16 million people dropped from medical insurance and the closure of rural hospitals is nothing compared to the glory of boosting ICE sevenfold, increasing deportations of blood poisoning immigrant vermin and citizens alike, MAGA.

This tops Joni Ernst’s, “well, we’re all going to die, for heaven’s sake.” So what’s it matter if death arrives a few decades early, so long as we can cut billionaire taxes and stick it to the brown skins?
