![]() RIGHT! Got it! Jacob Zuma during the State Capture years! Almost the exact same playbook. |

![]() So don't be surprised if politicians turn to war when conventional politics fails to deliver the desired outcomes. Whether it be 'culture wars' or low-level civil war disguised as 'law and order', or any other use of State Power as currently being played out under Trump's administration, it demands the same discipline as warfare. In that sense, being a politician under oath to 'defend the Constitution' demands the same courage and dedication to duty as is required of any private soldier in the Army. I congratulate the Texan Democrats, specially Collier; and I think it is about time that a few Republicans might also take their oaths seriously. This isn't about which policy they prefer; it is about promoting those policies in accordance with the Constitution and law based on that Constitution. If they can't achieve their policy objectives within NOT ONLY the letter of the Constitution but also the spirit, then they are honour-bound to Bide their time and NOT step outside those limitations. But since 20 January 2021, that idea is a dead letter to half of America. |

![]() I believe you are correct about the "dead letter" state of US politics, even though I pray that it isn't yet half the voters. There's something about the trump mystique that's taken over America, Bob. Whether it be opening a door for racism and prejudice to find a way out of the closet, a desire for change, great and powerful white America ideals, renewed opportunities to re-apply the Civil War rebel yell and/or many other designer platforms for pleasing the political right; trump has artfully stacked his platform with enough issues to please almost anybody. |
