I copy-and-pasted my most recent thread on here into the thread on evolution, which is where any discussion on the theory belongs. As far as the personal attacks, it’s regrettable but a good indication of where a debate on the theory of evolution would have gone and why I’m staying away from it.

I will delete any evolutionist comment containing insult or ridicule, but will leave any posted by creationists as evidence of the tactics they find most useful in honest debate. Should any other creationists Join the thread I trust you will admonish them regarding insults and mockery. I always enjoy a challenge.

But Vic tossing dog- doo-doo about will require a good night's sleep. Especially walking and not stepping in dog-doo-doo. We will have to make a HOA to come up with rules and such to avoid those sort of misbehaviors.

baddeeds 22-Nov-22, 08:59	I'm not criticizing anyone or taking sides here. But, this is why TA and I didn't allow politics or religion to be discussed in our past clubs. And, it's also why Gerhard doesn't allow politics or religion to be discussed in his club. It's because we know that people argue. And, then you get into things like people leaving the club or reporting abuse to GK. By not allowing it, we prevented these kind of problems from developing.

But if one removed those three subjects from discussion and debate, 98% of activity in the forums would disappear. Not saying that’s a bad thing lol

But when the moderators themselves are engaged in that behavior, the discussions are pointless.
stalhandske 22-Nov-22, 09:58	Vic In all clubs here GK prohibitions are followed very carefully, and if there are breaches it is easy to make a specific complaint either to the club founder or - if there is no response - to the GK authorities. But generally speaking, I think with your history you should be the last to complain about insults, harassment and other sorts of trolling. A mere change of username doesn't wipe out memories of past identities.

Totally! But it is important to be able to tell the difference between a criticism and an insult. For example, to show how an opponent's line of reasoning would logically lead to an absurdity is an ancient and well-recognised aspect of debate. It is NOT the same as saying the opponent is a fool. To show how an opponent contradicts himself is NOT the same as saying he is a liar. To misrepresent an opponent's case for the sake of 'disproving' it is dishonest. So let discussion go wherever it will, so long as it is honest, logical and well-evidenced.
