As a pro drummer I met buddy personally both backstage in Bethlehem,Pa,Atlantic City,NJ and years prior at "Buddy's Place",a nightclub he owned in NYC a long time ago.I even did a short solo on his white pearl drums after the show in Bethlehem...without an audience.It did not matter,for he was my hero and of course,a legend.In Atlantic City he had a show about to be presented at one of the Casinos.I presented myself again to him,prior to his show and he remembered me! Not long after that time I met him in AC...he had passed away.I cried for days. One of the greatest honors of my life.Yes,I speak of Sandra much,but Buddy was my drum hero from even before Sandra Lauer.Many times,I practiced day and night on my drums,trying to get as close as I could to his Jazz drumming and "independence"style as it was called.Never mastered his grand skills of speed and technique,but my efforts were worthy of a number of applause from the crowds in the Poconos,Pa when I played with a Jazz band.
